It was the second day of their stay in the motel, The sun was up high and Emma was still awake sitting on the bed in Danielle's room. She had told her all about what she had heard and now a very focused Danielle was walking circles in the room.
"Are you aware of what this means?"
She held her temples and shook her head as if trying to get rid of her thoughts, long brown locks dancing around her face in waves.
"But it's not for sure..."
Danielle stopped in her tracks and turned to her,
"Not for sure? Emma think about it," she sat down on the bed next to her, a very concerned look on her face, "She is who knows what centuries old and immortal, you have how many years left until you die, fifty? Sixty? We could even die tomorrow."
She slowed down a bit and emphasized on her words.
"Why should she keep you this way if she doesn't wanna let you go?"
Emma averted her eyes, it gave her goosebumps to think about being... dead.
"We should just run away, change our names and countries, do whatever to get away from them."
"You know it won't work, they overmatch us in every way."
"Then what do we do?" Danielle stopped and looked at her, distress obvious in her features, "Just wait for them to do as they wish?"
"What choice do we have? The odds are even now they can hear us, it wouldn't matter what we do, we can't run away."
Danille punched a nearby wall in frustration and held her hand in pain. She stopped and breathed on a steady pace, trying to cool off.
"I just can't accept the fact that our lifes are over." she put her hand on the wall her knuckles red and bruising, "There has to be another way out of this."
Emma sat silently on the bed, she felt oddly calm considering the situation.
"I could try and talk to her."
Danielle turned to look at her as if she had just said something ridiculous.
"Are you mad? That's too dangerous."
"Yes, but I can't think of anything else."
"It's not a good idea."
"Tell me a better one, then I will not do it."
There was silence, Danielle looked troubled but her lips stood sealed. She let out a frustrated sigh.
"Okay, fine." She turned in her place, "I trust you, but I just don't trust them."
"It will be okay, I have a good feeling about this."
"I don't understand how you could have a good feeling about anything right now."
"Hey," Emma tried to change the topic, "Why don't we hang out in the garden? We haven't seen the sun in a while now."
The question made Danielle think for a second before she agreed, her shoulders relaxing a bit.
"Yeah, you look pale as a chicken's butt."
"Hey!"
Emma slapped her arm and started laughing,
"That's not funny, I like my tan thank you very much."
Danielle joined her and they laughed for a while.
"It'll be a nice change indeed, let's go."
They got up and followed the staircase leading outside, sun was already high up in the sky. It was clearly noon with the hot rays of light burning their skin but it felt nice to be out after a long time.
