The walls of the mansion almost shattered down when Jean hit Jeselyn on the wall, her hands a tight grip around her throat.

"Give me one reason not to break your neck right now."

She spoke with a shuddering coldness in her voice, her eyes carrying a tint of madness. Jeselyn gasped as she clung onto her hands and coughed before speaking through her teeth.

"It... wouldn't... kill me."

Jean stopped squeezing and let her fall down on the ground.

"You kidnapped her. Either you help me right now or you will live to regret it."

"I will help her," Jeselyn gave her a hateful look as she held her throat, "but not because I owe you anything."

She stood up from the ground with a few coughs and straightened her clothes, walking over to the couch where Emma's unmoving body stood. She kneeled and checked her body, her brows furrowing as she became thoughtful and looked over at the ground.

"I might be able to heal her, although her body is pretty messed up."

Jeselyn checked her pockets before taking out a purple chalk and started drawing signs on the ground. She softly chanted the words to herself as if remembering them and shortly after finished the circle.

"Bring her here."

Dominic did so and softly carried Emma over, laying her down in the circle with care.

"I need someone of similar blood."

She looked around before her eyes settled on Kat who hadn't spoken in a while. She sighed before standing away from the wall she leaned on and moved over, kneeling on the ground and reaching her wrist out. Jeselyn swiftly slit it with a decorated knife and covered her palms in blood, drawing lines on Emma's cheeks and dragging her finger over her lips. She wiped her hands on her shirt before looking back at Emma on the ground, her eyes an empty glass as she stared off into nothing. She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and traced her fingers down on her cold face, blinking before she pulled her hand away and got back to work. She moved Emma's body to the side before opening the clip of her bra and checked the wounds on her back. Her left hand stood on the bloody mess as she put her back down and rested her right hand over her heart, darkness invading the white of her eyes as she focused.

Jeselyn started chanting and brought the lines on the ground to life, illuminating the circle around them with the beginning of her ritual. She felt the life force under her hands, faint enough to mistake it as something else. She reached deeper and felt her senses getting severed from the outer world, it was only there and then. In her astral stance Jeselyn focused to see and noticed the figure in front of her, a bare soul that stared off into the distance with empty eyes. Her body was being held by heavy shadows, snipping away at her being as she was held down.

Jeselyn furrowed her brows and focused, reaching into the mass of crawling hands and pulling the spirit forward with a firm grip on its wrist. She gritted her teeth at the strength of the hands, ignoring the shadowy grip that attacked her as she held the spirit. The binds started snapping as she continued to pull, and with a last tug severed her from the shadows.

Jeselyn's astral form was hit back with force as the spirit woke up from her slumber. She opened her eyes in surprise and saw her surroundings for a second before forcibly pushing Jeselyn back and out of Emma's body. As if she had just been shot Jeselyn broke out from her trance, falling on her hands and taking in heavy breaths. She looked back at Emma in shock, still feeling the surge of energy that dug in her skin like needles. Something had noticed her presence and pushed her out as soon as Emma's spirit was freed, something that didn't want to be seen by Jeselyn. She could feel the paralyzing shield that protected Emma, trying to go in there now would be like walking straight into an electric fence. She waited for her body to stop shaking before collecting her composure, then stood up from the ground and stepped back.
