I already have chapter 5 half written and chapter 6 is done (yes, I write them out of order sometimes) so I'll probably upload 5 in like a day or two.

At exactly twenty-five minutes after midnight, I began my walk to the entrance of the carnival.
Jarad said to meet him here at midnight, so I hoped that being half an hour late, he would have given up the idea of me coming and went to his party alone.
Even though the carnival closed at half after eleven and everybody left, I stayed back to help the school's treasurer go around and pick up all the cash from the booths and food stands. That took twenty minutes and then after that, I spent fifteen minutes trying to convince her to let me help her count it.
When she turned me down for what was probably the tenth time, I gave up on asking and went on a search for another way to kill time.
Then I spent fifteen minutes trying to convince the groundsmen to let me help them pick up trash. When they declined my help and I realized I had no other way to waste time, I started my walk to the entrance.
It'd been almost half an hour after he said to meet him there, so you would think he would've realized I wasn't coming and left, right?
Wrong!
As I rounded the corner to the entrance, who do I see coolly leaning against the fence on his phone?
Jarad Johnson.
"Dang," I swore under my breath.
What was I supposed to do?
I couldn't spend another half an hour aimlessly walking around here. Security would catch me and kick me out. I was also tired as heck and just really wanted to go home and sleep.
So, I made the quick executive decision to sneak past him. Pulling my hoodie over my head and staring at the ground, I slowly started to walk towards the gate.
As I got close to the exit, I took a quick peek up to make sure Jarad hadn't spotted me yet. He was still staring intently down at his phone so I quickened my pace.
I can't believe this was actually going to work. I love being able to come up with such good ideas in such little amounts of time.
The moment I walked between the two gates, I exhaled in relief that I'd successfully been able to pull this off.
"Mackenzie," A voice called behind me, "Do you really think I don't see you?"
I stopped in my tracks as I weighed my options. Half of me was screaming "abort mission!" and telling me to just take off in a sprint to my car. The other half was telling me to just turn around and act civilized.
I went with the latter.
Laughing awkwardly, I turned around. "Oh man, you caught me."
Jarad had leaned off of the fence and now stood a few feet away from me. He looked down at the watch on his wrist.
"Wow, only half an hour late," He laughed.
"Yeah sorry. I was helping close up and I didn't realize how much time was passing. I'm surprised you waited so long."
He shrugged. "I have nothing better to do. And I promised you I'd wait, so I waited."
"You didn't have to. I didn't change my mind about the party."
