She gazed upon the face of the stranger before her.
He seemed familiar somehow, the strong line of his jaw was partially hidden by the stubble that graced the smooth planes of his face.
Her eyes followed the soft contours of his lips and danced across the strong line of his nose, wondering if it had ever been broken in his youth.
Finally, she found the courage to meet his eyes, the clear blue irises reminded her of the sharp blue of the sea on a warm summer's day.
And when he gripped her hand in a firm handshake, she noticed that her small hand was held with such care within those large, yet gentle fingers.
And then she realised, that she was standing in the shadow of the man who had haunted her dreams as she underwent a relentless quest to find the one person who cared for her as deeply as she cared for them.
The fingers of her free hand itched, wanting to travel through his soft dark hair, and linger on the soft curve of his eyebrows, following in invisible path to end at the arch of his ear.
She had finally found him, after years of searching for a single shard of happiness, she had stumbled upon it by sheer good fortune.
