Ch.1 [The News]

Elise Haven~

The sound of bell can be heard as it echoed in the corridor.

I stand up as my fellow classmates rushed out, talking and bickering with their friends and other schoolmates.

I was really a very shy person. That's why I only had few friends. And the worst is that...they don't study here in my school. Sad right (?)

I clutch my books tightly in my chest as I walked. Everything was silent, well except the beautiful singing of the birds. Humming their hearts content.

I wrapped my red scarf tightly in my neck and continued walking.

As I reach my house, I knocked. The shuffling of feet can be heard and the door opened revealing my mom's smiling face.

"How was the school dear?"

She said sweetly as I gently put my bag in the counter top.

"Fine"

I replied tiredly. She nodded and proceeded in the kitchen.

"I will be cooking some spaghetti for you!"

She said cheerfully and I smiled. I raised my eyebrows at her as I leaned in the counter.

"For...Dinner?"

She looked at me and smiled brightly.

"Yeah!"

Even though Mom is weird, I loved her with all my heart.

"Okay"

I said and I walked upstairs. Well, not literally walked but jogged.

As I entered my room, I flopped in my bed and looked up.

"I'm sooo tired!"

I whispered and closed my eyes. But...my phone rang, signalling someone is calling.

My eyes shot opened and I immediately grabbed my phone.

I answered the call but...

"HELLO!!!EL!Wanna hang-out?!"

Yelled my best friend on the other line. I sighed.

"Okay"

I said and she squealed.

"I'm gonna pick you up later!!!"

Before I can say 'goodbye' she hung up.

I stood up and walked towards my closet and started dressing up.

While I was dressing, I can hear some footsteps walking towards my room.

I immediately pull up my black jeans and I grabbed my white T-shirt and put it on. The door opened and revealed my Mom.

"Hey dear, your friend is outside waiting for you. Oh! And I'm going to pick up some thing in the market. Don't forget to lock the house when you leave!"

She smiled at me before leaving. I walked towards my shoe rack and grabbed my black high cut Chuck Taylor's and put it on.

When I walked downstairs, Jackie my best friend immediately jumped from her seat and ran towards me.

"You ready?"

She smiled and I smiled back. She linked her arms in mine and we both walked towards the car.

When I got in, I was greeted by Sam. She smiled as I sat next to her.

"Oh hey El!"

I looked over and saw Rachel. She was next to Sam.

"Hi Rachel, hi Sam!"

I said and Sam tapped my shoulder. I looked at her and she showed me her phone.

"Look! There's a new Zombie movie. It was only released this month and the reviews are so good!".

She squealed and I snickered.

"Wanna go and see it now?!"

Jackie yelled from the driver seat. And everyone nodded.

She started the car and we buckled our seatbelts.

While I'm buckling mine, Rachel stood up and sat next to me.

"El"

She said in an almost inaudibly voice.

I looked at her and raise my eyebrow.

"I have something to show you"

She said and showed me her phone. My eyes widened.

"What is that?"

I shakily said as she turned off her phone.

"Do you believe that news?"

She said as she looked at me questioningly.
I didn't know what to say.

"I..."

Before I could answer, we arrived in the theater.

I waved goodbye to my friends as I walked inside the house. It was almost midnight and I was really tired. My head was also aching. I think I drank too much.

Yeah, after we finished watching the movie...they convinced me to go to the bar. And it was a shame for me to say but I drank way too much than I expected.

I stumbled in the hallway as I made my way into my room. Suddenly I heard some coughing.

I looked behind me and saw my Mom. She looked at me and coughed.

"Are you alright, mom?"

I said and she nodded. She smiled as she handed me the spaghetti she made.

I gently grabbed it and put it in the table.
I walked towards her and grabbed her arm. I guided her in her room and I tucked her in bed.

I smiled as she fell asleep and I walked in my room.

After I closed the door, I heard a thump on the other room. I just ignored it and jumped on my bed and removed my shoes.

Before I dozed off I remembered something.

"Do you believe that news"

Rachel's voice echoed in my head. Do I believe it? Of course I don't.
