I head somewhere that Majora's Mask had more than just one cartridge. Not the black ones or the holographic gold ones, but a multi-colored one. One side was like a sea green and the other was purple. I've never seen anything like it before, but I thought buying one would be worth a try.Turns out, you won't find any of it online. You have to get it from a different source. My friend Jared found one and said that he was afraid it was going to be some kind of BEN DROWNED thing, so he gave it to me. Side note, I probably think that it was one of the worst and at the same time best decisions I've ever made.
This cartridge was a lot like the original. Same everything. I beat the game and everything stayed the same. I told him everything was fine and he said he wanted it back, so I did. Jared likes to do glitches, so I told him just have fun and we can sell it later.
Jared came back to me a week later telling me to play it. "The main reason why I love this game so much is that it's dark...but this one cartridge is a bit too dark." I just shrugged and told him to tell me what he saw. "I did a few glitches and I ended up unlocking something. It's like an alternate ending or something." I flipped the switch on my N64 and saw that Jared...or 'Link'...had a save spot that was complete. Everything was unlocked. Simple thing that Jared does. He doesn't actually stop playing a game until he knows everything about it. I tried out what he said. I needed to do the 'fourth day glitch', then go into Clock Tower. Whenever I would talk to the Happy Mask Salesman, his code for saying how many days I have left will resort to only symbols and letters. When he says 'Only-" and says nothing, I must stay in the tower. If I leave, the game will crash. So, I did the second part of the glitch: headed towards the front door that you first come out of. I told Jared that this door can not be passed, but he said to just try it. By it he meant what's called 'bomb hovering'. I did that and ended up glitching through the ceiling and behind the door. I was actually really surprised. He told me to head over to the other door and do the same thing. I bomb hovered over the door and he told me that he never got past this. I sighed and continued down the path. I remember playing this game when I was younger and playing this part over and over again at my friend's houses. I memorized almost every nook and cranny of this game, so I figured that I would make this glitch work.
Jared told me to be careful not to make a certain cutscene happen. What I needed to do was watch a play-through of the game and find out the approximate area that the cutscene would start and get to that point. All cutscenes require two frames to activate, but if I jump forward a little bit and pause over and over again frame after frame until I was safe to stop then the cutscene wouldn't even happen. But I failed the first time...I think. Instead, I got a different cutscene. Actually, it was the same, but every text box said 'The right thing...what is it? I wonder, if you do the right thing, does it really make everyone happy?'. That seemed so familiar...someone said that...
The game crashed at the end of the cutscene.
I decided to wait a little bit until I got back on. A few days passed, and Jared's game slot changed. His name was in gold and all of the things he had on there showing that he beat the game was gone except for his hearts. Everything else was replaced with just Majora's Mask.
