Chapter 2

My head collides with another, knocking both of us off our feet and hurdling towards the cold, hard, chequered floor.

"Aww, ouch, watch where you're going retard!"

At first the agitated sound didn't register in my head, I just grabbed a fist full of hair, as close to my skull as I possibly could, to try and dim the throbbing pain. I felt like my forehead was pulsing, I squeezed my eyes tightly shut to try and stop the threatening tears from falling. My efforts were in vain as a few slipped out and trailed down my face.

I scrambled to my feet. I can't believe I just did that. Today is my first day and I've already managed to get hopelessly lost and smash my head at full force against another student.

I suppress the bubbling fear. Every instinct is telling me not to do it, but I have to, I open my eyes.

Sprawled out on the floor was ... A guy. He looked relatively the same age as me, only he had lavish honey blonde hair. His skin was slightly sun touched with a few freckles scattered across his nose. His eyes were a deep Safire colour with the odd spec of emerald green, not that I was staring. My eyes trailed down to his broad shoulders and rolled up sleeves. He was wearing the navy blue uniform; blazer, shirt, tie and trousers. It complemented his features perfectly, making his eyes pop and defined the muscles in his chest and arms. He looked cute with his features pulled into a scowl. More than cute, quite ho-

"Stop staring at me, it's weird... Weirdo." He said bluntly in a dull monotone.

I snapped back into reality, I was just caught staring and checking the guy out right in front of me. I can feel my cheeks burning with embarrassment. What am I doing? How could you be so bluntly obvious April! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I squeak out a pitiful excuse of an apology as my whole face turn a bright-tomato-red.

"It's ok" He grumbled out, adverting his deep eyes while rubbing his forehead, brushing the soft blonde tips of his hair out of his face. I stretch out my hand, offering to help him to his feet. He pushed himself up off the ground, ignoring my jester. My arm fell limp back to my side.

Feeling brave, I ask the guy that I just unintentionally rugby tackled to the ground (Who is also very attractive) directions to the appointment hall.

"Do you know how to get to the appointment hall?" I ask timidly, shying away from intensely deep blue eyes.

He briefly looks me up and down, then, cocking his right eyebrow up in a quizzical manor, he points to the direction I've just previously ran from.

"Down this hall then take a right. Follow the corridor to the last pair of double doors. Then through those doors should be the appointment hall." He looked like he wanted to talk to me, more like scold me for running straight into him. Literately. I flash a quick smile, muster out an appreciative 'thank you' and before he could utter another word, I take off down the hall way. Why me? I couldn't resist the urge to peek over my shoulder. He was gone. I let out the breath I was unintentionally holding and carry on blindly following his directions. I didn't even ask his name. That was quite rude of me. What must he think of me?

I miraculously find my way to the appointment hall. It looks more like a ball room than a hall, if I'm perfectly honest. The room was still loud and busy; considering I've missed the first twenty minutes of registration, I was pretty shocked.

"Hello, miss, would you like some help?" asked a tall, middle-aged woman. She was only a couple of inches taller than me, quite plump and has a bubble-ly attitude radiating off of her.

"Yes please, thank you! I have been looking to register, but on my way I got hopelessly lost. I went down these corridors and halls that all look the sa-"

She interrupted me before I could finish my nervous waffling.

"Shh don't worry about it dear, follow me and we will sort out your registration and assign your class." She gave me a wink and then went on to say:

"Everybody gets nervous on their first day, especially in a place like this."

After tons of strenuous paper work and talking to all kinds of different people, I'm finally a registered student.

Now standing in front of dorm room 56, nerves hit me harder than a ton of bricks. The girls I'm going to be living with for the next two years are on the opposite side of this door. Thousands of questions buzz around all at once.

What if they're in a different class to me?

What if they don't like me?

What if they think I'm weird?

What if they don't accept me?

I shake the thoughts out of my head. I've been standing outside of my room, key in hand pointing at the lock, for around five minutes now. God what's wrong with me?

i open the door. The dorm it's self was quite plain. Dull yellow walls, earth green carpets a few cabinets and draws, studying desks and three beds. Sitting on one of the beds opposite each other, both with crossed legs was two girls, both in white uniforms.

One of the girls sprung off the bed, bouncing her long, ginger perfect curls with each stride.

"Hi! I'm Lucy, it's nice to meet you." She said rather perkily.

"And this is Lilly" she said gesturing to the girl still sitting on the bed.

Lilly swung her legs round and hopped off the bed fluttering her too-short-for-comfort skirt.

"Hi." She gives me a smile, flashing her pearly white teeth behind her baby pink lip-gloss. She hands out her hand, exuding confidence.

I gladly take it, giving a strong shake. All doubts have gone. They seem really friendly!

"Hello, it's nice to meet you two. My name is April." I beam a genuine smile.

Lilly and Lucy turn to face each other and let out a small burst of giggles.

"As in the month?" Lucy asked

"Yes" I reply with a quizzical look.

Lucy playfully slaps Lilly in the arm. Slightly creasing her uniform.

"See, I told you it wasn't a typo." She said grinning at Lilly.

Lilly flips her long, wavy black hair behind her shoulder and rubs her arm tenderly. She then goes onto turn and give a mocking pout at Lucy.

Looking pleased with herself, Lucy turns to me grinning ear to ear.

Should I be scared?

"Well, are you just going to stand in the hallway all day? Or are you going to get your butt in here and get your things sorted?"

"Oh, right, yeah, sorry" I blunder out walking into my 'new home' dragging my belongings behind me.

Lilly's face lights up and she scampers off to one of the cabinets. "April, your uniform is here." she hands me a grey bag with my name and class clearly printed on it.

"Welcome to the club".
