"Dan I didn't know you'd be so upset." Alex's voice rang through phone because Dan had finally picked up, Alex being annoyed that he had to leave 17 voice mails in order to get him to do so.

"It's not that I'm upset... It's more of a... Disappointed? Almost?" Dan said as he paced the floor. He sat down and sighed, sifting through paper after paper. "He's an earth sign and I'm an air. Those don't work out."

"Dan you could just give him a chance. Plus, who says that you won't become great friends?" Alex pleaded through the phone. "He just wants to know more about you."

Dan exhaled and slumped down onto his back, rubbing his temples. He made a mental note to never buy vanilla incense ever again because this headache was killing him.

"Okay fine. Just don't tell him where I live because I don't know if-" Dan stopped speaking as he heard a knock on his door.

The phone line was silent.

"Alex?"

"Yeees?"

"Fuck you."

Dan hung up.

Dan pulled the door open and deadpanned at the man standing in front of him.

"Hi." He said simply and Dan wanted to shoot himself.

"I'm um... I'm sorry about earlier? I didn't know that you, uh, were sensitive about it?" Phil was obviously nervous. Dan was a little taken aback. Capricorns are usually confident.

"It's okay. I just..." Dan tugged his sleeves over his fingers. "Would you maybe want to come inside? I kind of ruined our first impressions." He smiled sheepishly, motioning behind him.

He won't tell you his heart fluttered when Phil nodded and stepped through the doorway. He won't tell you how Phil said he liked how his house smelled and Dan actually considered only buying vanilla incense for the rest of his life.

The two spent the whole afternoon talking about stars and astrology and Phil appreciates Dan's tarot cards with cats on them. Dan asks Phil if he likes rocks and Phil says yes and Dan is showing him all of his crystals and he almost thinks this could work.

That stupid voice in his head is blaring nonstop and Phil is asking him about his tattoos and asking where he works and about his plants.

Phil talks about how he'd be too indecisive to get a tattoo and that he wanted to be a weatherman and Dan shows him a tattoo the wraps around his ankle that says 'don't blame the rain on the weatherman' and Phil thinks it's cool.

It's 11:30 when Dan shows Phil how you can see some of the stars from his balcony. It's 11:30 when Dan sees the lights in Phil's eyes and it's 11:30 when Dan is so in love with Phil that there is no going back.

It's midnight when Phil asks Dan to show him how to use crystals for divination. Dan complies and asks Phil to choose his 9 favourite crystals and at the end of the night Dan lets him keep them even though it means parting with his favourite citrine piece.

It's 1:13 when Phil curses because his ride home just cancelled and Dan is in a fit of giggles because Phil hasn't cursed. He's said 'shniggles' and Dan finds that utterly hilarious. He finds himself offering Phil to sleep over and he doesn't know what makes him say it, but he feels comfortable.

Phil tells him that he really shouldn't and Dan whines and finally says okay. He gifts Phil a pendulum as he goes and Phil leaves the citrine piece in Dan's mailbox because he caught the look in his eye when he said Phil could have it.

That night, Dan dreams about dark hair and blue eyes and wacky outfits and he wakes up feeling cold. He misses Phil's warmth and Phil's voice and suddenly he's realising that they never exchanged numbers.

He inwardly curses himself and he checks his horoscope. It's 6:58 when Phil comes into the coffee shop. He doesn't even notice Dan sitting at the table he usually sits at and Dan's heart is beating a mile a minute. His music is too loud in his ears and he turns back to his papers, splaying his legs outwards.

He looks up when his chair tips a little and his leg scoots across the floor. Sitting there on the tile is none other than Phil and he is smiling and speaking and Dan can't hear a word he's saying.

When he doesn't pull his headphones out, Phil just sits there and holds Dan's gaze. His heart feels like it's exploding to the beat of his song and he reaches out a hand to help Phil up when it comes closer to the end.

Phil is staring into Dan's eyes, into Dan's heart, into Dan's soul. His song ends and he tugs the headphones out of his ears and he's glancing at Phil's lips and he's hoping he's not being too obvious.

"I think you literally just fell for me." Dan says and Phil's eyes are twinkling and they're laughing but Dan isn't joking.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that."
