Kristy's P.O.V.
Lunch was interesting.
To say the least.
"Hey sweetie, did ya get the boys?"
Even as she was asking me I could feel a blush creeping back onto my face, just from thinking about it.
I didn't want her to see, so I ducked my head into the fridge, looking for something to drink.
"Umm, yeah. I told Cole, and he'll tell Josh."
"Okay, good." mom said, then set plates on the table.
It was a rectangular table with dark stained wood, and it was one of those super high and long ones (but not too long-the average five seater one), that has another piece you can add to make it even longer.
I noticed that she put five plates on the table and asked who the fifth was for.
"Oh, your father. He should be home for lunch today."
My dad is the head of a big company-a few actually, and he owns a lot of things, too, so he works a lot.
You'd think that with him being his own boss and all, that he'd at least get time to himself-really though, he makes his own hours! But, he has to work a lot. I suppose it makes sense, he has a lot he needs to do, but if I made m own hours id at least make sure I could have a break everyday. He doesn't have a break every day though.
But he does spend time with us, I like him and all, but we aren't close. Not like me and mom are.
We used to be super close, I used to tell him everything, but now I just kinda keep most of my problems to myself.
Well, we still are close, but not in the same way-I cant explain it. We laugh and have fun together, and he's defiantly not one of those people who would lie and cheat on mom--they're still soo in love. They're like teenagers, and you can see it every time they look at each other.
"He's coming home?" It was exciting, as bad as that sounds. Its just that he never comes home, and I haven't seen him all summer.
"Of course he is! You didn't think he'd miss seeing his favorite daughter after he hasn't seen her for two months did you?"
I felt a big grin make its way to my face, "I'm his only daughter."
"That makes you his favorite" she was smiling too.
"Ha, I suppose it does."
"You suppose what does?" I heard a deep voice coming from the kitchen entryway ask.
A deep voice belonging to my dad!
I squealed and ran into his open arms.
Okay, so it's a little girly for me, but I missed him!
"I didn't even heard you come inside." I said once he released me.
He chuckled, "You were probably off in your own little world again."
He had a point.
I have a tendency to just stare off into space thinking. I do it a lot, and I'm pretty sure I was when he came in-but I was thinking about him, so its okay.
"So how was your trip?" he asked me walking over to give mom a hug and kiss.
"Oh, it was great! I had so much fun with aunt Julie! Ohmygosh! Guess what?" I didn't give him time to guess. "She's pregnant! But you cant tell anyone. Only I know-well I told mom, and im gonna tell Josh, but no one else can know-Oh, we told her husband to. But hes not important. Oh that sounded bad, what I meant was, it's not important that we told him, because, well obviously it's his child and he should have been the first to know-okay the second really, because Julie should have been the first to know. But he just doesn't count, yano? Actually, I found out before he did! Me and Julie didn't even tell him we were buying a test, and we waited for the results while he was at work. We watched them together and it was super exciting! And..im gonna stop talking now, and try to catch my breath."
We all laughed and sat down.
"Where are the boys?" dad asked.
Good question.
"Well, I told them to come downstairs, so they should be down any second."
Just as I said it I heard the boys coming down the stairs-it was hard not to; they sounded like a freaking herd of elephants!
Mom chuckled, "Loud enough boys?"
"Oh hey mom, hey dad."
"Hey everybody-blame him that were late! He wouldn't get out of the freakin shower!" Cole pointed to my brother.
"Hey! Its not my fault that we were late, you took so long that by the time I could actually get in it was time to come downstairs!"
They started fighting over whose fault it was that they were late and I just laughed at them. They do this everyday. Actually usually I do too, but I wasn't with them today-wait, does that mean that I look that ridiculas too?!?
Apparently.
"Boys! Boys! Settle down." mom said, making downward motions with her hands. "Sit down and eat."
Mom sat at one end, dad at the other, Josh and Cole on one side, and me on the other. Josh at the same corner as dad, cole at the same corner as mom, me at the other corner of mom. If that makes any sense.
( Josh Cole )
( Dad|_________| Mom)
( nobody Me )
We all took our seats, and I decided I should probably tell Josh about our soon-to-be cousin before I forgot (not that I'd forget the baby, I'd just forget to tell him).
"Josh, guess what?!"
"What?" he asked with his mouth full-so I'm not positive that's what he said, but I think so.
"Julie's pregnant!"
"Really?" he looked shocked.
"Yeah! isn't it exciting?!"
"Hell yeah!" now he looked excited. "When'd she find out? When's her due date? Does she know what she's havin' yet? Is she excited? Is John?" he was ready to continue, but I stopped him.
"Whoa, whoa. One question at a time please. The other day. April 23rd. We don't know yet. Of course they're excited." I stated, trying to remember the order of his questions. I think that was it.
We talked a little bit about the game last night-hockey of course, but then stopped to eat, because none of us had actually touched our food yet.
I felt a foot casually rubbing against my leg, and looked up at Cole, who gave me a sly wink.
I felt my face turn red, and I looked down at my plate and continued eating. But the foot didn't stop.
I don't know why this is making me blush! Me and Cole always flirted, but in a friendly way. It never meant anything, its just a joke.
I forced myself to calm down, and as soon as I felt my blush disappear I looked back up at him and smiled, then stared rubbing his leg.
Then we both burst out laughing at the same time.
And we couldn't stop. Everybody was lookin at us funny, and that just made us laugh even more.
Then they realised that this happens every single time we all sit down to eat together, and they just laughed at us.
I think it only caught them by surprise this time because its been so long since I was here-so we haven't all sat down together in a long time.
Okay, so thats it for today!
But i have more typed up and ready to go,
only i wanna see what people think of this first.
...Promise il update as soon as i get a vote, comment, or fan!
