A/N: I have the app, and my phone is stupid, and sometimes it puts a . instead of a space. If you could point any errors out so I can fix them, that'd be great!

Chapter Five

I was walking on the sidewalk, the voice inside of me was raging.

Our mate is back there. You should go back. Go back! There are rogues ahead, don't you smell them?

Shut it for a second, will you? I thought at it. I am so crazy.

You're not crazy, Carter! Don't go over there!!

Why are you in my head?!? I demanded.

I have to be! I'm part of you!! I'm your wolf!!

And what the hell does that mean??

It means--

"Carter!"

I whirled around. Flora was running towards me insanely fast. Inhumanly fast.

"How--?"

"Don't go over there!!" she cried.

A low growl from behind me made me freeze. Don't turn around. my "wolf" said.

Thanks, I got that.

Just checking.

"Carter," Flora said. "Walk towards me very slowly."

I took a step forward, and there was a snarl from behind me.

"How many?" I asked, motioning my head to behind me.

"Three wolves." Flora said.

"How close?"

In answer, they surrounded me, turning towards me.

"They're waiting for orders. They were told to find you." Flora said. "They don't know what to do."

"Flora, they're wolves. How can they take orders?" I said.

Suddenly one wolf snarled something, and the other wolves yipped in agreement.

"Damn, and I liked this outfit," Flora said, and shifted into a wolf.

WHA--?

"You--you-you..." I stuttered.

She leaped into the air and slammed to the ground next to me.

The wolves took a couple steps backwards. They hissed and growled.

Flora was a beautiful wolf. She was red, the color of her hair, with white underneath and tan speckled throughout.

She snarled at the wolves, almost as if she were saying, Stay back!

"You want me to help?" I whispered.

She shook her head.

All at once, we were ambushed.

I screamed, startled, but quickly realized they weren't fighting me or Flora, they were fighting the other wolves.

The wolves on our side suddenly stopped momentarily and let out a howl of anguish.

The other wolves looked on at Flora and her friends in confusion.

The howls stopped, and then Flora and company started to tear through the enemy wolves.

Then the last one slumped to the ground.

Flora's wolf sat next to me, panting. She looked up at me with soulful brown eyes.

"You gonna shift back?" I asked.
