The sorting hat. The talking hat that will sort us with people for the next 8 years. Time ticked by slowly as I watched students sorted into houses.

"Delilah Chester!" She strode onto the stage confidently. I watched intently as she sat in thee stool.
"Sebastian? Is she talking to the hat?" I whispered.
"Yeah. Apparently it talks to you."
"RAVENCLAW!" A cheer came from a table. Delilah hide her disappointment as she joined them.

"Sebastian Chester!" He shook his head terrified to go up.
"Sebastian. I promise we'll be in the same house." He seemed comforted by these words. He walked on stage nervously. All I could think about was not being in Gryffindor.
"RAVENCLAW!" The hat yelled. A cheer came from the table. Delilah slammed her head down.

I was last. I slowly walked over. I sat in my hands to keep myself from taking the hat off. Professor McGonagall placed the hat on my head. The hat didn't hesitate to make itself comfortable, blocking my vision.
"Hmmm." As he spoke he hugged my head. "Hufflepuff?" He said to himself. "No. No. NO." He said. "What about Slytherin." He said. "What if I put you in Slytherin?"
"What if you do. Slithering always has and always will have amazing wizards and witches. A darkness past doesn't scare me because I come with one too. Stick me in Slytherin."
The hat fell silent. What must've been a couple minutes felt like and eternity. "You are your fathers daughter, but I'll do this anyway- RAVENCLAW!"
A large cheer erupted from the table with the Ravenclaw students. Delilah and Sebastian jumped up and down cheering. I ran over to them escaping the hat.
Delilah hugged me tightly. "Yay!" She squealed. I turned to Sebastian.
"Told you." He smiled. "Ravenclaw!" We cheered.
