At the bridge in Wave Country, a thick, unnatural fog over-shadowed a gruesome battle. Sharp clangs sounded through the air, and in the middle of the bridge, stood two young boys and a large masked man, who had a giant sword slung casually on his shoulder. He was smirking at the boys' defiant glares."Playing hero, eh?" Zabuza Momochi, Demon of the Mist, taunted them.Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki said nothing. They were telepathically strategizing how best to take the swordsman down. And since Momo-kun has a giant ego and can't handle being ignored, he grew angry and threw his sword directly at the thing that happened to be in its way.And that thing was Sasuke.As Naruto's hearing was sharpened, being the "fox" he is, his sensitive ears picked up the slight whooshing of sound that indicated the sword rushing through the air. Sasuke, being a "wolf", had only his eye-sight sharpened, but his eyes were closed so he could concentrate better on strategy.Without thinking, acting on pure instinct alone, Naruto pushed Sasuke away and accidentally sent him over the bridge. Naruto couldn't help but internally chuckle at how funny it was to hear the oh-so-high-and-mighty Uchiha freak out and scream like a little girl just before a large whoosh was heard. Sakura-nee had flown down to stop Sasuke-nii from getting wet. What a spoilsport.Naruto had thought all this in literally one second before he felt a searing pain in a vital point in his neck. 'Aw, come ON! ' Naruto whined internally before thumping to the floor. 'What a PATHETIC way to die! It's not worthy of my glo. . . oh crap I'm dying.' " (A/N: You just realized that, Naru? (-_-") )He winced as very loud footsteps thumped their way over to him, and he nearly gave a shriek when he was picked up. No doubt by Sakura-nee. He could literally feel them freaking out."Come on Naru! Don't give up on us!" Sakura all but screamed, and the blonde could feel something soothing on his neck. Medical Ninjutsu. But it was probably too late for him anyway. Unless there was, by some miracle, some great-almighty being inside of him that could heal him extremely quickly to save his life. . . yeah that was just wishful thinking.Sasuke and Sakura were panicking. This couldn't be happening! Naruto was their little brother! Their eyes were frantically looking at his chest, which was heaving up and down in short, laboured breaths.Slowly but surely, as Naruto embraced the darkness that was already clouding his mind, the chest went down into his last breath.Sakura's green eyes widened as tears immediately spilled on her cheeks as the green light faded away. "No. . . this can't be happening. . . Naruto wake up! Naruto!" Sakura was going into hysterics as she clutched her brother to her chest, sobbing heavily.Sasuke was silent, but rage and grief was brewing inside of him. Unconsciously, his onyx eyes morphed into a ruby-red six-point star. The Mangekyō Sharingan. Everything seemed even sharper than before, and things were moving as if in slow-motion.《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》 Meanwhile, Naruto was slowly waking up. No, not in the real world, but in a sewer."Ew, why is the afterlife a freaking sewer?" the blonde scrunched his nose up before hearing a weird voice say,"Come closer, Kit." "Kit? What kit? I'm no kit! ""Shut up and get over here already, boy!" the voice thundered in annoyance.Naruto jumped, startled that the voice could hear his thoughts. Quickly, he scampered through the stinky water and found himself face to face with. . . a huge, orange, furry fox.Naruto stared. "Orange. . . fuzzy. . . fox. . . orange. . . fuzzy. . . fox. . ." he kept repeating over and over. "Orange. . . fuzzy. . . fox. . .""Do you know who I am, boy?" the fox asked, trying to break his host's mantra. When he didn't stop, the fox couldn't help but sweatdrop. 'What in the world do those kids see in him? ' (<-- bold and italics)Suddenly, the blonde boy flung himself through the bars and pretty much attached himself to the fox's leg."What the hell are you doing?!" the fox yelled in shock. "Do you really not know who I am?! I'm the Kyuubi! The one who destroyed your home, and your future of having a loving family!" Naruto just buried his face deeper into the fur."I don't care if you're the Kyuubi, or if you destroyed my home. It's alive and rebuilt now, isn't it? Besides, I have Sakura and Sasuke now, and they are my family. But if you are really sorry, ask yourself, if you had the chance to destroy my home again, would you?"'This boy. . .' Kyuubi was shocked. "What you say is true. I was forced to destroy your home by the blasted Sharingan. I'm sorry Kit. Can you. . . forgive me?" the fox asked hopefully.Naruto lifted his head, azure blue eyes meeting red ones. "I can't forgive you. . ."
The fox's head dropped. He should've known. Nobody could forgive him for what he had done.". . . because there's nothing to forgive.""You really mean it, Kit?"
"Of course I do! You're my friend now! Uh. . . what's your name? It's not Kyuubi, is it?" He blinked innocently."Kurama, kit. It's Kurama.""Kurama," he repeated. "Nice name. I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you think you could heal me? I want to go back to my friends and family.""Of course Kit. You're half-healed already. By the time I send you out, you'll be as good as new." "Thank you so much! Bye Kurama, I hope I can see you again some time!""I'll always be with you, Kit. I'm sealed inside of you, remember?" That was the last thing he heard before Naruto opened his eyes and was met with a grey sky. 'YATTA! I'm back! Now to see if I can prank Sakura-nee and Sasuke-nii. . .' the boy smirked deviously.He crept over to the two children, but froze, the stench of blood flowing thickly into his nose. He quickly shook his head and walked over to them, where they were clearly mourning his "death". He peeked between their shoulders, looking at each of their faces. Their eyes were closed as they grieved, so they couldn't see him. Seizing his chance, Naruto asked creepily,"Why so serious?" (Pretend he's in a Joker-voice. You know, Batman?)They both screamed, jumping to the high heavens as the blonde fell laughing. They landed and glared fiercely at him before realizing it was Naruto."N-Naruto?" Sakura stuttered, tears pricking her eyes."How are you alive?" Sasuke whispered disbelievingly.Naruto just. . . yawned. "Got any milk?"
