Thana slammed the ringing alarm clock silent with her hand and forced herself out of her comfy, warm bed. How she hated morning. Her mum came into the room with a panicked expression on her face. It was usual for her mother, Hermione Granger the new Minister for Magic, to come into her bedroom in such a way but it never ceased to fill Thana with dread.
"Get up Thana. You are going to be late for the train! Your father and brother are already downstairs eating breakfast! Come on!" Her mum spoke rather impatiently.
"Just five more minutes?" She replied sleepily.
"Thana i'm warning you!" Hermione said getting a bit angry now.
"Alright. Alright. I'll be down in a minute." Thana muttered before reluctantly getting out of bed and getting dressed to meet her already seated family members in the dining room. Her stomach grumbled as the smell of bacon traveled up to her nose. Scorpius smiled at her as she sat down. Her father, Draco Malfoy, gave her a 'what time do you call this look' before offering her some toast.
" Are you excited for your first year at Hogwarts Thana, Scorpius was just telling me how he was hoping to be sorted into Ravenclaw. You, I hope will be more sensible and aspire to be in Slytherin. The best house!" Her father boasted loud enough for mum to hear.
Through the next room you could hear mum reply, "You wish dear."
Draco smirked at the twins. They all shared the same platinum blonde hair and facial expressions. Thana, however had inherited Hermiones rich brown eyes and Scorpius her book smarts and kindness. As soon as they had finished, they gathered their possessions then headed for the station.
The Malfoy manor, which for a time had been a place for great evil and hardship, had been transformed into a friendly and welcoming place to live. The garden full of flowers and trees had the twins spending every afternoon in there playing. This had stopped at age 7 when Thana and Scorpius discovered their other interests. James, Albus and Lily visited quite often, with Thana going off on long adventures with Albus and Scorpius staying in the library with James and Lily.
They couldn't be more opposite. Thana saw black when Scorpius saw white. She didn't know why, but there had always been a darkness in her. An allure into the evil and mysterious. She wasn't a nasty person except she could be very cunning at times. This she supposed she got from her father.
Darkness ran in that side of the family. They weren't meant to discuss the war and the past but she knew who her father was and what he'd done. The faded dark mark that scared his arm, the dungeons where many were tortured at the hands of her great aunt, including her mother, and the pained expression she would see through the faked smiles.
Thana understood though, that the past was in the past and people could do horrible things given certain circumstances. It dawned on her though, that people will stare at her and judge her for being his daughter. She loved her father more than anything ,but the thought that the next seven years at hogwarts will be full of torment and judgement from her fellow classmates because of the stupids things he'd done in his youth, filled her with the feeling of inpending doom. No she was not excited to go to hogwarts. Not one bit!
When they arrived at the crowded station, the family of four spotted the potters and began to walk through the hoard of people to get to where they were standing, smiling. Thana could sense the whispers and stares of people as they went by. She felt uncomfortable. She ignored them the best she could and gave Albus a friendly hug. " Hello! It's been so long. Hows your summer been?" Thana asked curiously as they had only spoken through scattered letters since May.
" Fine. Getting ready for Hogwarts has been tiring. I really hope I'm not put into Slytherin!" Albus said looking nervously at her.
Thana thought Albus was being ridiculous so replied, " It doesn't matter. There's nothing wrong with Slytherin. Whatever house you're in we will always be friends right?"
"Of course!" He insisted.Thana could still feel eyes watching her but refused to let it affect her. She was determined to have a good time at hogwarts and she wasn't going to let nosy people ruin it for her.
Their parents were making small talk, catching up. James getting bored then came over to us. He was two years older than Albus and never let him forget it.
"Ready for the sorting ceremony then Ablus. Ready to be put in Slytherin. Eh, little Albus." James mocked grinning.
"Shut up James! I'm not going to be put in Slytherin!" Albus sputtered obviously annoyed.
James was very pleased after succeeding to wind up Albus. He then saundered off to where his friends were waiting for him; completely ignoring Thana's existence. She was quite used to that though as when she wanted to she could blend into the background. You'd be shocked at how many people failed to realise she had entered the room. Albus always did though. He had a way of sensing her: it was as if he had a sixth sense. She used this skill to go on walks at night. Just her and the darkness. It was so peaceful. Usually, she would sit on the hill and gaze at the stars until the sun came up.
The train hooted and announced for students to say their goodbyes. Thana and Scorpius recieved plenty of kisses and warm goodbyes from their parents and Harry and Ginny Potter. They all then boarded the Hogwarts express. Massive adventures awaiting them. Albus, Scorpius and herself found an empty compartment and prepared themselves for the long journey to the school.
"Isn't this exciting?" Her brother asked enthusiastically.
Both Albus and Thana nodded their head in agreement.
"Very exciting!" Albus exclaimed happily.
