Thana awoke the next morning, feeling excited for the days lessons. Quickly, she got dressed and with the rest of her dorm walked down to breakfast. Albus and Scorpius were already helping themselves to toast when she arrived.
"How was your night?" She asked them, putting a mountain of food on her plate.
"Alright." Albus lied. He unlike Thana was a terrible liar.
"Stop lying Albus. How was it really? Scorpius?""The other boys basically said that he must be a disapointment to his dad and when I defended him they said that my father is Lord Voldemort. That confused me. Anyway, now Albus is really upset." Scorpius said quickly. In response Albus gave him a light thwack and barked, "Thanks a lot mate. Bloody hell!"
Thana grimaced and displayed a empathetic half smile." Well my night didn't go so well either. This horrid girl called Harriet called our mum a good for nothing mudblood!" Thana exclaimed. Anger began to rise in Scorpius and he stood up but she waved him down. " Don't worry," She remarked,"I think after the verbal beating I gave her. She won't be giving us anymore bother."
The two boys stared at her in suprise. It took a lot for Thana to snap. Harriet Wiley made Thana's blood boil. When she was annoyed or angry, she was like a snake, cold and cunning, ruthless and manipulative.
"It doesn't matter. It's nothing. What do we have first today?" She asked successfully changing the subject.
"Herbology, I think, with the Griffindors." Scorpius replied with a anxious look spread across his face.
"Great." Thana muttered. Another group of people to judge me, she thought as she left the hall and headed towards the herbology classrooms.Uncle Neville smiled at them as they walked in. She loved Uncle Neville. He always visited at Christmas and Easter. This was because he didn't really have a family, as his grandmother had died not shortly after the war. He was a friendly man who told her many tales of all the different plants he had encountered. She thought that he was the bravest man apart from her father that she'd ever met.
"Hi guys. I had a feeling I would be teaching you today. Please, take your seats." He guided enthusicastically, pointing to three empty chairs at the front of the classroom. "Thanks uncl- I mean Proffessor Longbottom." Albus replied, turning slightly pink at his slip of tounge.
No one seemed to notice though. The three of them sat down trying to ignore the blatant stares and whispers. Thana turned around, quickly examining the Griffindors. They had chosen to stay together, like a pack of wolves l. The Slytherins were more spread out, sitting in groups of three or less.
"Right class. Settle down." Neville asked, waving his hands in a downwards motion, waiting a few seconds for the class to become silent before continuing. "Today we are going to be learning about the uses of Cowsbane in pairs. I'm going to assign you a pair and in the spirit of house unity. I will pick the pairs slytherin/ griffindor."
The class erupted into cries of protest.
"Alright. Alright. I know this might be a bit challenging but I'm not changing my mind." Proffessor Longbottom promised seemingly unimpressed by the classes antics. Thana didn't really care. Sure it would've been nice to be with Scorpius or Albus, but it wasn't the end of the world. He then started to pair us off. Albus got paired of with a light brown haired girl who was called Janette O'Henry. She gave him a shy smile as she sat down beside him. Scorpius got pared with a tanned slender boy who went by the name of greggy. He seemed to have a permanent mischievous grin on his face.
Thana was paired with Alexander Colt. There was something about him, she couldn't quite put her finger on yet. Without being conspicuous, she inspected him, he was a rather tall boy with muddy blonde hair and the purest dark blue eyes she had ever seen. He had pleasant sharp features which softened as he gave Thana a polite half smile. She returned the gesture before he sat down beside her.
For the next 10 minutes, she refused to look at him. Until they were set to work to research cowsbane, that's when she couldn't stand the awkward silence anymore.
"Hi. I'm Thana by the way." She said hoping this would break the silence.
" Hello. I'm Alexander Colt but most people call me Alex. So..." He replied thinking,"How is it down in the dungeons? I've heard that it's really cold and horrible."
Thana shook her head. "No it's not. It's actually quite nice and comfortable. We have a really cool view of the lake." She replied getting quite excited about the window.Alexander looked at the platinum blond girl sat across from him, with an excited look on her face. Her beautiful deep chocolate eyes sparkled as she talked. He found that the time passed by very quickly as they shared easy conversation. She explained her parentage and her worries and he told her about his life in the muggle world.
She didn't feel judged at all by Alex. As they talked she found him to be a very open minded and optimistic person. She wondered why he was put into Griffindor not Ravenclaw. The same with her brother really exept he was put into Slytherin not Griffindor. There must've been a reason for it though, the sorting hat doesn't make mistakes.
The rest of the day past by with not much drama however, in potions a rather clumsy muslim boy called Abbas managed to spill a very toxic liquid onto the table which as a result burst into flame. All Proffessor Slughorn said was "Oh dear." In that tired voice he of his before using his wand to put it out.
As they were approaching the end of the day, the trio decided to explore the library. Scorpius' face lit up like a christmas tree at the sight of all the volumes.
Thana aswell was amazed at the collection. From the corner of her eye she noticed Alex. She didn't know why but she felt nervous. He smiled at her as she went past.
"Who's that?" Scorpius asked.
"Oh, that's Alex. My herbology partner." She replied, faking coolness. They spent for what seemed like forever in there. Thana was itching to go into the restricted section. Imagine all the fascinating things she'd find out about all the dark magic she could ever imagine.
Then she felt it. The urge. This time was different. It was as if a voice was calling to her, luring her. Frightened, she asked the boys if they could leave. They obliged yawning. Ignoring the itch that never went away, all three of them were extremely tired so didn't stay up long before going into their seperate dormitories, to bed.
