I watched Otabek get off the bike before putting his hand out to help me get down. I looked to the ground hiding my smile.
I looked down to see that we were still holding hands. We both immediately let go. I took the helmet off my head and the wind started blowing my hair is every direction. Otabek stood there laughing at me.
"It's not funny!!" I whined trying to grab my hair. I took out a rubber band from my pocket and tried putting it in my hair and attempted to hold the bike helmet.
"Let me help you" Otabek said taking the rubber band from my hand.
I blushed as he put my hair into a ponytail, leaving a few strands out by my right eye.
"Thank you..." I said quietly as Otabek grabbed my hand again and walked me towards the dock. It looked so pretty. The water glimmering and the stars in the sky reflecting upon the water. Not that I noticed.
"I hope it's okay I brought you here I didn't really know where to go...." Otabek admitted sheepishly.
"No no no no no! It's okay! Anywhere you go is okay with me!" I froze after saying my sentence.
Otabek smirked, "What's up with you sounding so romantic today?"
"I didn't.....I didn't mean it like that!" I said biting my lip in embarrassment.
Otabek just smiled at me then looked back out at the lake.
"It's really pretty........it kinda reminds me of home...." I said kicking a nearby pebble into the lake.
"Sorry.....I didn't mean to make you miss your home more...." Otabek admitted.
"It's fine! I'll be ......going back soon hopefully anyways. I'd do anything to get my hands on my Grandpa's homemade piroshki.....and I miss Potya..." I said.
Otabek just smiled at me. I looked at him weirdly, "I know you were only gone since.....this morning but do you miss.... Kazakhstan?"
"I always do.......especially traveling.....doing competitions... obviously you know what that's like" He laughed shyly.
"Yeah...." I said shyly as well.
"I know I've told you a million times but I was really proud of you.....winning the Grand Prix Final and all....you really deserved it."
I looked at Otabek seriously, "It amazes me that you congratulate me even though you didn't win yourself....." I said.
"I came in fourth......you'll just have to work harder to catch up to me next time."
I laughed out loud, "Oh you're kidding right?!"
"If that'll help you sleep at night sure" Otabek said teasing me.
"This was my first Grand Prix Final and I got gold and I was only 15! I have eyes of a warrior remember?! You came in fourth and you're 18! You're the one who needs to step it up" I said smirking.
"Then make me" Otabek said grabbing my hands and holding them, pulling me closer to him.
My heart almost jumped out of my chest. I heard it pound so loud in my ears that I swear people from across the lake could hear it.
Otabek immediately let go of my hands and I saw his face go red. I felt my own face start burning.
"I..I....I....um..." He stuttered looking for words.
What do I even say? What was that even about? Friends say things like this to each other right? Friends...... just friends..
"Yuri I'm sorry I wasn't thinking straight" Otabek said flustered and stumbling over his own words.
