People ask the blind what they can see. Like they unconsciously can't believe that they see nothing at all. They ask if they see black or white or some other solid/swimming color. I'm not sure if it's true for people who have gradually lost their sight, but I belive that if the optic nerve is severed, you see nothing at all. Not black, nor white or any other color. It would be like if you closed your eyes, out streamed your hands and try with all you had to see through your fingertips. I think that's what it means to be truly blind.
