Harry pulled his jacket around him as tightly as it would go. The zipper had broken a year after he graduated and he'd never gotten around to fixing it.
Diagon Alley was bustling, and he regretted not putting on glamours that morning. The press would have a field day. He hadn't been anywhere but home and work for months.
When he finally got to The Leaky Cauldron, he was soaking wet, he was hungry, and the press had swarmed him like a bunch of fucking vultures. It was his own fault for being so close by the offices.
He went up to the counter and smiled tiredly at Hannah.
"What can I getcha, Harry?"
"Just a Butterbeer, thanks."
She stopped wiping down the counter and fixed him with a look. "Still 14, are we?"
"It's bloody freezing out. Are you really going to deny a man with hypothermia his last wish?"
She waved her wand at him and he let his head drop to the counter. It was sticky but he was too happy and warm to care.
"You're brilliant. Really, I'd marry you if Nev hadn't already called bagsy."
Hannah snorted and placed his drink beside him. "Doubt Ginny'd like that."
"She's really quite agreeable. She's also said she'll trade me for Joey Jenkins if I ever leave her."
"Poor Ron. Doesn't she know you aren't supposed to go around stealing other people's boyfriends?"
Harry laughed and took a sip of his Butterbeer. It finally got the warmth to spread all the way to his toes and he was ready to melt into the floor when someone tapped on his arm.
He sighed and turned.
"Mr. Potter?" said a young boy, who couldn't have even been old enough for Hogwarts, "Would you please sign my book? Please?"
The book was shoved in front of his face and he laughed sharply. It was a copy of 101 Ways Harry Potter Managed to Have a Good Time at Hogwarts and Why he Owes us for Helping Him Along. By George and Ron Weasley.
He pulled out his wand and did the charm Hermione had taught him. Ron had designed a special signature for this book.
While he'd been busy, a whole queue had formed behind the boy and he groaned.
By the time he was done spelling his name onto a woman's very intimate body part, the last person in line, it was late and he'd almost forgotten why he'd come. Almost.
