The next day, Harry is unsurprisingly seated at the tall bar belonging to the Malfoy's living room.
"All I'm saying is, Potter, your life is a fucking disaster."
"Oh shove off Malfoy, you don't know a damn thing."
Draco grimaces at his tea.
"I know that you quit your job, for starters," he pauses, "and from the sound of things, your fiancée is leaving you. I also know that you look like you got no sleep last night, and you're once again at my house, drinking, mid-afternoon."
He certainly has a point.
But Harry isn't good at conceding, especially not to Draco Malfoy."Ginny wouldn't leave me. We're in love."
Draco rolls his eyes.
"Yeah.. and you're the idiot who quit his job right after proposing. She was raised as a Weasley, Potter-" he stops talking when Harry's head snaps up to glare at him, "calm down, I meant no offense- she just doesn't understand that you have enough money to live off of comfortably for years without work. She wasn't raised to."
Harry stares down his nearly empty drink like it has done something to personally offend him.
"Since when were you smart about people stuff? All I remember from school is you being a bloody prat. This is unnerving," He pouts.
Draco gives him a tight lipped frown, "You really need to slow down there, Potter. You've drank at least a bottle and a half."
Harry rolls his eyes and walks over to the large ornate couch to take a seat.
"Sure, make yourself at home."
"Piss off."
Draco sighs,
"Potter, my mother won't be home for hours. You obviously need something, what? Do you want to talk, because you've already expressed your opinion on my people skills and I have to agree. Or, do you want to just laze around until I kick you out? You won't have to wait long on that one. You've got about," He glances at his watch, "one more sentence."Harry is quiet for a moment, looking down at his hands.
"I'm a mess."
"I'd have to agree."
Harry fights the urge to glare again.
"Since when do I come to Draco bloody Malloy for my problems."
Draco sighs and moves to the seat across from Harry.
"Not sure. But I think we both dislike what this new arrangement entails."
Harry nods whole-heartedly and raises his glass with a questioning look.
Draco pours him more fire-whiskey, but continues sitting with alarmingly rigid posture.
"I don't bite, ya know?" He murmurs.
Draco just frowns and sits back a little.
"What was I thinking?!
We're still teenagers!
She's just barely in her twenties!"Draco looks momentarily surprised.
"Oh- we're doing this now? Allllright, carry on," He says with a disinterested huff.
"She's just so perfect."
"mmhmmm," Draco replies while picking up a new glass for himself and filling it to the brim, clearly on the edge of kicking Harry out of the manor for good.
"We're going to spend our lives together, right? I don't know why I was even worrying in the first place." He says, almost like he's trying to convince himself, "We're destined. The Saviour and his best friend's sister."
