Chapter 12- Raven Black

Drake- 2015

"How many of us have suffered this life of desolation because of Caen? We can no longer walk in the sun, we are no longer human, we are animals - monsters. It's time to find a way to kill our maker! It's time to fight back! It's time to take back a shred of our humanity by killing the one who made us the way we are today! No matter the cost, we must find a way to send Caen to hell.

The crowd of vampires roared in agreement. My time on this earth has lasted beyond imaginable, what I am - what we all are is a disgrace to God. I will not rest until Caen pays for condemning all our souls to hell. She is our way to freedom.

I flicked my eyes to the master as she began her speech.

"My name is..."

Caen- 2014

The darkness brings little comfort, it stands to remind me of the biggest regret imaginable. What does the darkness hold now that it couldn't hold before? What hides in plain sight but is shrouded by night? What horrors are captive by day and released by night?

Blood thirsty monsters.

Monsters that were created because of me and the parasites that thrive inside. I would not wish this kind of death on my worst enemies let alone someone in need of rescuing. I've made a few mistakes in the last one-thousand-one- hundred-and-fifty-years or so, but the difference is; I learned from them. Has my sister learned? Of course she hasn't. I remember when I found a hoard of her newly changed Vampires hiding in a hole in the ground.

They looked starved, thin, and ashen gray. They were starving to death I concluded. One of them, a male, rasped out that their punishment for not following orders were to starve for a whole year. Orders by Queen Calley. She called herself Queen? How odd. Did she believe that she held all of the power of the Universe? She is sorely mistaken. We are not the only unnatural creatures to exist - I found that out the hard way some odd seven-hundred-years ago.

*Caen's Flash Back *

The year was 1314. I was currently tracking Calley and her misfit of newly turned Vampires. I was passing through Rome and headed to Greece where I heard she was causing nothing but mass destruction when I came upon a man and a woman. There was this feeling that over shadowed my entire body, an electric charge tingled my skin making the hairs on my arms and neck stand on end... it felt almost as if someone were sucking the life out of my body. A bit ironic all things considered.

The air around them seemed to glow a fiery red and I was the only one to take notice. Others walked right on by as if the couple was just standing there smoking a cigarette like nothing was out of the ordinary. But something was wrong. The voice inside my head began to whisper once again.

"Danger," It hissed.

"What's dangerous about them?" I questioned him while keeping my eyes in the couple.

"That is not a human man and the woman is not really there. It is an illusion to lure in the weak and vulnerable. It is seeking out its prey." The voice hissed out the clear warning.

I could not stand there and let this man seek out someone to take. I wasn't even sure what he was, but I didn't care - I was going to end him tonight and hopefully save countless other lives in the process. I walked over to where he was standing and almost immediately I was overwhelmed with the smell of burnt flesh and... Sulfur? I could tell the man was not from Rome nor anywhere I had traveled to.
