:Chapter Ten:

{Blake's POV}

I grunted as I lifted the weight above me, loving the patterns my biceps made as it was forced to reach its' full extent.

"Nice haul," Liam Peters commented next to me, looking appreciatively at my arms. He was a fellow football player, and we were in the school gym, working out. Principal Drinkwater was adamant that our sporting grades stayed at the top of the ladder, and spent 50% of the school's money on the sporting area every year.

I nodded once to him, placing the weights back onto the bar, before sitting up, feeling the strain in my arms. Though it was definitely more than I usually did, and the stabbing needles in my arms proved that, I still felt unsatisfied with the days' work.

"Unfriendly, huh?" Liam mocked, getting up himself. "Last time you were so quiet, you were worried you got April McDonald pregnant. And the time before that, it was cause Drinkwater disrupted your quickie with Regina Taylors. So who's the chick that left poor Blakey upset this time?"

I didn't say anything for a second, just wondering how much the guys noticed my movements. I lamented over the fact that I was seen as a role model for most of them - fuck, practically all of them except for Liam and Colt put up with my shit before remembering Liam had asked a question.

"There's no girl," I said lamely.

Liam snorted. "Right. There's no girl. Now what you're going to do is," He interrupted me as I opened my mouth, holding up a hand, "Is demand all of us to go back to your place and drink the night away, complaining about how shit girls can be and how unfair life is."

I closed my mouth quickly. I was going to say that. "The problem is, that there is no girl," I said irritably, annoyed at the fact that he knew me so well.

Liam, who had had a smug smirk on his lips, cocked his head, looking confused. "What's that meant to mean?"

"What I said. Just piss off, alright?" I didn't look at him.

I hadn't been lying, completely at least. When he asked who the girl was, he was asking who I was screwing - and I wasn't screwing anyone. To think of it, I hadn't slept with anyone for a while. It had to be at least a week. That was a record, I thought proudly.

I closed my eyes shut as I forced my arms to lift the weights again, groaning when Hayleigh's face popped into my head. It was pissing me off big time, the way she would just pop up randomly into my head without warning, and I had no idea why. Sure I admit, it wasn't like I didn't want to screw her. Both her sister and her were fucking hot, except Nina's way was in the I'm-experienced-and-I-know-it, while Hayleigh was all blushes and cute smiles. It was obvious which one I liked more.

Hayleigh's face in my head, while had been smiling a second ago, suddenly morphed one with a confused, slightly upset expression, the face she had on an hour or so before, when she was following Nina's orders and getting the ladder.

There was no actual reason why I blanked her out, except maybe that her cute grateful smile was too much to handle. I didn't like girls looking at me that way; the look they gave when they wanted commitment, except her smile was more grateful than expecting, and that was just weird. Too weird for me to handle.

I didn't want to commit to anyone. I didn't want to hold hands with a girl and tell her she was beautiful. I didn't want to buy her presents, I didn't want to pay for her movie tickets, I didn't want to remember our one month anniversaries. Sure, call me a jerk, but I was just being honest.

But then why did the blonde keep popping into my head randomly?

"Alright, boys," Coach barked out, "That's enough for one day, off you go, you little rascals."

I grabbed my sports bag and headed out the door, not bothering to take a shower there. No one did; it was just after six, and we all had better places to be, things to do, girls to screw.

Oh, did I say screw? I meant talk to.

"So how are things with Nina? You still taking those classes?" Colt asked me, as he and Liam matched my pace.

I grunted incomprehensively. Yes, they knew about Nina 101, the classes I had managed to trick Hayleigh into teaching me. Confession? I didn't like Nina. I had gotten bored of her after the first week. She had been fun. Easy. A great time. But that was all it was.

"You know, if I didn't know better, I'd think you'd have a thing for Hayleigh," Liam teased.

"Well, you do know better," I shot at him.

Colt chuckled. "Do we?"

I punched him. "Fuck off."

Before we knew it, all three of us were tackling each other on the grass, swearing at each other even though we knew we were just joking around. It was like always like this with us; we were fucking bastards to each other, but Liam and Colt were the best fucking goddamn friends I had ever had.

Liam suddenly shot up, running a hand through his friend. He turned to me, a smirk on his face. "Carter," He mock-sung, "Your girlfriend is here!"

I glared at him, but a second later my eyes spun, looking for Hayleigh, and seeing Nina instead. Disappointment was apparently written all over my face, because Colt and Liam sniggered at my expression.

"Mother fucker," I muttered at them, making their smirks even more pronounced. "I swear, you're such a shit - oh, hi. Hayleigh."

I had turned around at the sound of footsteps, and there was none other than Hayleigh Grace standing there.

"Hi," She murmured, not even looking at me. Her eyes were trained on something on the floor, before darting to something behind me. "How are you?" She asked distractedly, not giving me a chance to answer before she walked around me, standing in front of Colt.

She smiled brightly at him, her head bent on one side, biting her lip slightly. Was she... flirting? "Hey, it's Colt, right? You have History with me."

He nodded, the smirk still on his face, and I knew just by the way his hands were twitching that he was dying to raise his smirk to me. "What can I do for you, pretty?"

"Can you give me a ride home?"

What.

No way. No way would Colt agree to that. He wouldn't. No.

"Sure thing, pretty," Colt agreed, finally shooting me a smirk as he wrapped an arm around her waist, leading her to the car park. "See you tomorrow, Carter."

No fucking way.
