Chapter 3
As soon as I walk into the detention room, I spot Alec. He waves to me and I walk over and sit next to him. "Sup?" he asks. I roll my eyes "Really? You pull the 'Sup?' card? Pathetic!". "Hey! That hurt right here..." he feigns hurts by putting his hands over his heart. Mr Hikles walks in and shushes us.
"Kesi get over here now!" my father screeched. "I'l pass thank you very much." I call back and with that I jump out of my window onto our garage. I always go onto the garage, then jump the 15 feet to the driveway. Call me crazy but, I've been doing that since I was about 5. What can I say? I'm a freaking rebel! When I was little, I called myself a ninja because I did stuff like that and I managed to go unharmed.
I run the 2 miles to my elementary school and arrive 5 minutes before it started. I walk through the front doors and go to my class. I saw my evil 4th grade teacher, Mr. Moon, and I groaned. "Why?" I asked myself. He has hated me since the first day of school when I put tacks on his chair. I had a thing for getting in trouble. As I entered the room, he called "It's good to see you Miss Thompson!". I rolled my eyes "Whatever Moon.".
Once class started, he assigned us 5 pages of math. I finished the pages in about 10 minutes. I'm a child genius! Anyways, I walk up to the front, put the pages on his desk and take his phone. What an idiot he was to leave it here! He is always on it texting who knows who! I walk back to my desk and put the phone in my pocket. Mr. Moon comes back in and walks to his desk looking for his phone. I raise my hand. "Yes, Miss Thompson?" he asks annoyed. "What can I do now? I finished the math.". "You can read." he states looking for his phone. I walk up to the bookshelf and grab a book. Right then, his phone rings and I mentally slap myself for not turning in off. Moon glares at me. "Miss Thompson, give me my phone and go to the principal's office!" he screeched at an octave I didn't think was possible for men. I roll my eyes and hand him back the damn phone and start walking to the principal.
As I walked down the hall, I get the feeling I'm being watched so, I turn around just in time to see a 5th grader throwing a punch at me. I duck automatically and kick at his legs until he falls. I stand up and kick him around the side of his chest and continue walking. I smirk as I think of the kid's face when he was falling. I have always been a natural fighter and people should take note of that... If they want to keep getting beat up, just do what they do now.
I knock on the door and saunter in. "-Lucas and Alexander will be fine." Mr. Anderson reassured a lady who had 2 kids, who I guess to be Lucas and Alexander. "Ah, Miss Thompson, take a seat." Mr. Anderson said waving his hand at an empty chair. I roll my eyes and sit down. "Like I was saying-" Mr. Anderson was saying to the lady. I zone out and see the 2 boys staring at me. I smile at them and one - the one with jet black hair and blue eyes- smirks back while the other one - who has blonde hair and grey eyes- smiles. I change my smile into a smirk and roll my eyes. "Miss Thompson, you will not be in trouble if you show these two young lads around for me. They are in your class as well." Mr. Anderson states. I shrug my shoulders and walk out of the room hoping the boys will catch my drift. They run out of the room and walk on opposite sides of me.
"I'm Lucas. What's your name?" the blonde boy asks. "Just call me Thompson. I don't trust you yet so, no name." I blurt. "I'm Alex." the other boy says. I stop for a second. "I will take you guys under my wing so you have a friend. But, you'll need new names. Alex and Lucas don't work for me." I state. They both look at me bewildered until Alex shakes his head. "Sure! We need some change." he responds. "How about you? You chill with the names and friend?" I ask Lucas. He shrugs. "Alex you are now Alec and Lucas you are now Luke." I order without thinking. They both shrug but smiles are tugging at the corners of their mouths. "You can smile. I won't judge." I tell them. They both break into huge smiles.
I open Mr. Moon's class room door. "Here's where you will be tortured for the rest of the year." I say in a fake perky voice. They both laugh and enter the room. I follow closely behind closing the door.
~1 week later~
"Pass me the damn ball!" I yell at Alec who is currently playing basketball with Luke, Tyler, Sage and I on my driveway. Tyler and Sage are my adorable 2 year old siblings. It's not really basketball seeing that Sage and Ty's only 2... Alec and I still play like it's against only kids our age. "Watch the language Thompson!" Luke yells at me. I grab the ball from Alec and sit down on the grass. The 3 boys and 1 girl come and sit around me. "Do you still want to know my name?" I ask the twins. They both nod vigorously. "My full name is Cassandra Rose Thompson. I prefer Kesi over Cassandra though. I chose Kesi not Cassie because Cassie is over used. My grandparents call me Rose. You can call me whatever but, you must call me Thompson at school... At least around everyone else." I confess. "I'll call you Kesi." Alec and Luke say at the same time and I laugh.
We sit there staring at the sky and Luke starts playing with my tailbone length dirty blonde hair. "Another thing is, my hair is this colour only in the autumn and spring. It's blonde in summer and brown in winter... Don't ask." I say shaking my head. "I bet you look good as a blonde." Alec teases. "I bet I do!" I tease back.
