Mycroft could sense the anger in my eyes. He's the one that started this mess, and he wanted me out of it just to save his own dignity. I want to punch him in his deceitful face so badly. "Oh please," Amy laughed to herself. "You think this is about me being shot in my bloody shoulder? This is about what you took from me,"
Mycroft shuddered. She knew what she was talking about. "Now, Amy, you know that wasn't my fault-"
"Wasn't your fault!? You got the Montgomery's so obsessed with the life you promised them, that they thought everybody was against them. You made them turn on each other. You fueled their paranoia so much, it got Claire killed!"
It was painful for Amy to say that last part, I could tell. Claire was everything to her. The only thing that reminded her about the better parts of her life. Losing her caused Amy to lose herself. That's why she did this. She want's revenge for Claire. As much as I want Mycroft to pay, if Amy does this, she'll be at the top of London's Wanted List. Then I'll never get her back to us. "Amy," I finally said. I took a deep breath, "I know what this, all of this means to you. You want Mycroft gone to ease your mind,"
"Sherlock!" Mycroft exclaimed.
I glared at him. He got the message to shut up. "I wish I could say otherwise, but doing this won't fix yourself. Trust me, I've wanted to help myself this way, but it only ends in pain,"
I could feel John's eyes on me when I said that. Amy kept her strong stance, but I saw the glimmer of a tear in her left eye. She lowered her head, almost in thought. Then, she slightly shook her head, as if to herself. "Amy?" I was anxious. Did I do it? Did I stop her?
"You're right." She said softly. "Nothing will change, I'll make everything worse actually," She then stared right at the back of Mycroft's head. "But it might make me feel a little better for the time being,"
My eyes widened. I prepared to sprint to her. "Amy! No!" I tried to yell
Before I could even open my mouth, Amy swiftly aimed her gun and a piercing gunshot echoed through the air. I flinched and closed my eyes on instinct. before I had time to process what just happened, an agonizing scream rang in my ears. I looked up. Mycroft was curled in a ball holding onto the lower part of his leg, his face was in immense pain, and his leg was covered in blood. Amy didn't kill him! She listened! I took a step closer to her, but was stopped by the sound of dust and rubble crunching under footsteps. John, Amy, and I looked to where the sounds were coming from. Through the dust, Lestraude was quickly marching closer to us, followed by many police officers. moved in from the sound of the gun.
"Oh no," John and I quietly said.
"Shit," Amy said to herself.
Without hesitating, she quickly turned and sprinted deeper into the warehouse. "Stop!" An officer yelled to Amy.
She already disappeared into the darkness. Before I could chase after her, Lestraude caught up to John and I. The officers continued after Amy, but Lestraude stopped us from going further. "What happened?" Lestraude demanded answers.
"Amy was holding Mycroft at gunpoint and she made him tell us that he funded the Montgomerys, had Amy and other criminals do his dirty work in exchange for a clean record, got Claire Stewart killed, and that he was the one that shot Amy before she got on the helicopter. Then instead of shooting him in the face, she showed mercy and shot him in the leg," John explained.
Lestraude stood in silence for a second. Mycroft wails of pain filled the silence. Medics were tending to him, but he was still acting like he was a second from death. Lestraude then nodded. "Right," He said. "Well, we will get that sorted out later,"
"Sir!" a younger looking officer yelled to Lestraude as he ran up to us. "Sir! You need to see this," he panted.
John, Lestraude, and I looked at each other, then followed the officer in the direction everyone ran. Mycroft quietly continued to wail and cry in pain. We jogged up to the rest of the officers, who were all huddled and clumped in a half-circle. Some of them had their guns aimed, others just stood still, at the ready for anything. We made our way through the group and instantly joined the group's collective reaction. Amy was kneeling over something. It was a box a little bigger than a shoebox, wrapped in shiny green and white striped wrapping paper with a matching green ribbon. Everyone looked at each other for some knowledge of that to do. "Do we know who that is from?" John asked, breaking the silence.
"No," Amy and a handful of officers responded.
Everyone went silent again. Amy suddenly let out a loud breath. "Screw it," she whispered, and carefully untied the ribbon.
I tensed up, so did everyone else. At this point, I don't know what to expect. Everyone else is probably feeling the same way. When the ribbon was loose, Amy cautiously slid it off the box. She hesitated, making everyone even more anxious. Then she slowly opened the top of the box. "Oh shit," she said.
Inside the box was a contraption that filled about three quarters of the box's space. There was a small, blank screen and a small, red, beeping light. It was a bomb.
A couple officers started to panic, quickly looking to their partners with wide eyes. Others seemed to mentally brace themselves for the events to follow. I kept my eyes on Amy, and the bomb. Amy reached in the box and pulled out a small piece of paper. She glanced at it and immediately froze, looked at me, and mouthed "Moriarty". I walked over and she handed the note to me. In neat handwriting, it said;
"What? You think this is over? Now that all my biggest annoyances are all huddled together in one place? I know, a bomb isn't exactly my preferred style, but sometimes you just have to settle for the easy way out. But I'll give you time to make peace with your demons.
Have fun!!"
"What do we do?" Amy quietly said to me.
I froze. She's asking for my help? Its me that needs her most of the time. I can't lose her now that I just got her back! "I love you-" I said without thinking.
My heart skipped about three beats. What just happened? where did that come from? I mean, I know where that came from, but why now?
Amy stared at me blankly for what felt like forever. She looked like she had the same reaction as me. Her gaze fluttered as she was trying to find something to say. All I could do was stay frozen in front of her. "Sherlock," she said. "I-"
A booming sound came from all around us. The ground started shaking. On impulse, I grabbed Amy and threw us both to the ground. I scrambled over her to shield her from any falling rock. Out of the corner of my eye I saw some officers running in every direction, others taking what little cover they could find, and John and Lestraude doing the same. Soon dust made eyesight useless. More explosions went off somewhere, and I suddenly remembered the bomb in the box was near us. I could just make out it's outline close to us. Instantly, I scrambled over to the box and kicked it as far as I could. Before it slid to a stop, it exploded. I jumped back over to Amy and draped my coat over us as best as I could. It quickly became hot from the fire. When the explosion seemed over, Amy threw the coat as far away as she could, since it was now on fire. We held onto each other as rocks continued to fall all around us.
Then it went quiet.
