The desk phone gets a call, waking me.
I pick it up and mason is yelling into it from the other line."
Mason? what's going on?" I ask getting into a sitting position.
"This guy is telling me I can't come see you." He growls.
"I'm coming down." I say looking around for his sweatshirt I threw.
I open the door grabbing the keycard before walking out and stopping in the elevator with two other people.
When I got to the lobby I saw a stressed looking mason, elbows resting on his knees, face in the palms of his hands.
He pulled at the ends of his hair as he sat up, leaning back in his chair. His gaze meets mine and he gets to his feet, speed walking across the open lobby to me and I meet him halfway."Its about time" he said to my ear in a hushed tone. "That guy has been bugging me since I walked in." He says as I pull him into the elevator and glare at the man at the front desk as he gives me a dirty look.
"What the hell happened?" I whisper yell at him, fearing the people in the rooms around us would hear as we stopped on the floor my room was on.
"Starting fights with lobby workers now?""So this is my fault now? Did i mention he came onto me once i walked through the doors? Oh! And Who the fuck decided to come to fucking redding and make me drive hours just to get some stupid fucking lobby fight blamed on me." he raised his voice with every word he said until he was yelling.
I dont need this right now. "I thought I was calling someone to comfort me, not to yell at the receptionist!" I mimic his voice stepping up to him, my face inches away from his.
He grabs my arm.
Hard.
"Let me go, mason!" I yell as he pulls me back to my room and snatches the keycard from my hand, unlocking the door and pulling me in. As he kicks the door shut, I see his eyes go dull and dark, their bright ocean blue color fading.
"I've been trying to comfort you for days now. I've been trying my hardest to keep you safe or at least make you feel safe, you're wearing my clothes for goodness sake!" He bursts as he shoves me down onto the bed.
I stand and shove him back into the wall, sending a huge crack through it, it was spread from ground level up to the ceiling, little cracks surrounding it and paint now chipping as he pushed himself out of the dent his body made.
The dent my hands caused.
My boiling blood runs cold, as does his eyes.
"What...." I say under my breath, gently pulling mason away from the wall so we could get a better look at the damage I caused.
"What did she do to you.." Mason whispers from beside me. I look over at him. "I need to help you control this before it gets out of hand." He says, turning to me grabbing my hands, his eyes going sad while flicking from mine down to my hands.
I started to sink to the ground, mason still holding my hands, sinking down with me.
"How, mason? I'm gonna hurt you...she did this to me. She wants me to hurt people...I'm gonna kill that bitch!" I scream and started for the door but mason pulled me into his chest from my waist causing him to fall back onto the ground. He never let go."Don't give into her mind games, Lia. She wants you to come back to try to kill her. She'll keep you. She'll do to you exactly what she did to me." he soothed, whispering into my hair, rocking us back and forth as I balled turning to face him, laying my head on his chest, grabbing a fist full of his shirt crying into his chest.
He did comfort me.
