*beep beep*
My alarm goes off at 5am and my head shoots straight up. "Today's the day" I whisper and get the most insane butterflies.I rush to get dressed, brush my teeth and start to brush my hair.
"MAY!" My dad shouts in attempt to wake me up as I race down the stairs with my two bags and my hair brush.
My dad looks at me in surprise and rubs his eyes while drinking a cup of coffee.
"Okay um, car in 10 minutes" he says while walking back to his room to shower and change.
I run and put my bags in the boot then sit in my passenger seat, I attempt to finish brushing my brownish blonde hair and pull it into a tight yet comfortable ponytail.
After 8 minutes passed my dad got in the front and turned the engine on, not sure if he was as excited about this as I was but he sure was excited!
He reversed the car and began to drive, its 5:30 now and we have to be there by 9 so we have ages.
~after the long tiring drive~
"I can't believe we're actually here!" I say quietly as my dad smiles in the mirror, he continues to drive as I press my face against the window, watching as all the gorgeous chestnuts gallop in the white-fenced paddocks and the riders leading their horses to the stables.
The stables are stunning, they are massive and are attached to an under cover arena, there's at least 30 stalls in there and amazing facilities, washbays and cross ties to tack up/groom.
Just looking at the stables makes me wonder about the people that ride here, I know I'm gonna make some enemies but I will definitely make some amazing friends too.
We pull into the gravel parking area, parked right next to a massive horse trailer and nothing on the side, I swing my door open and confidently strut to the boot. I take out my bags and the envelope and we begin our journey to the main hall where we are supposed to meet.
While walking down to the hall we pass through the main stables and arena, I see some gorgeous faces (of horses) but one stands out the most, 'nightmare of Foxwood' (all the bred-at-Foxwood horses have shownames that start with their name and end with of Foxwood) he was a jet black Hanoverian stallion and he sure did have a thing for rearing! I doubt any of us challenger riders would be using him but it's still pretty cool.
I take my attention back to the main hall that is just up ahead, it's filled with students standing by each other, once we get close enough, my dad hugs me good-bye and he turns around and heads back.
I have intense butterflies walking towards the large group of teens. A couple of them looked at me as I got closer and soon enough the coach, Ms Lee turned and looked.
"Here's another two students now," she said with a pleasant smile across her face, wait.two? My face puzzles until I turn around to see a boy following me, he has jet-black hair and the prettiest blue eyes, I shake my head and quickly take my place in the swarm of girls and boys.
I hand the envelope to Ms Lee, she quickly scans it and places it in a pile.
"Thankyou Miss Greene" she says before continuing on with the information. It was fairly normal stuff like, only ride with a friend, always wear helmets even when around your horse, blah blah, but eventually one sentence caught my attention.
"Okay now for the assigning of horses to riders" she bounces with excitement and pulls out a notepad, "once assigned your horse, go find them and give them some love before coming back here, they have nameplates on each stall so won't be too hard to find" she adds on before reading through the list.
"As always, ladies first!" She looks up for a second only to look back down, "One last Chance, assigned to Emma King, Sky of Stars to Lexi Armstrong, Dream Big to LiLi Rose, Arrow through the heart to Maddie Rose"
hmm, they must be sisters.
She continued, "A bit of Luck to Mayla Greene"
Finally! I fast walk to catch up to Maddie and Lili, "hey are you guys sisters?" I ask almost out of breath. "Nope" Maddie laughs, "we just have the same last name, pretty cool right!?" Lili smirks, I laugh quietly and we all talk about our horses, "I hope mines a gelding" I look up. "Same" replies Maddie, "nah I want a mare" adds Lili with a huge smile.
We finally reach Lili's horse and funnily enough, it's a mare, a pretty grey one for that, she looks to be part Arab! Maddie and I only have to walk a bit further up to our horses, my beautiful boy is in stall 16 and Maddie's is in stall 17, I nicknamed the tall horse 'lucky' he is a massive warmblood type with a white snip on his face, other than that he's a very dark bay with 3 white socks.
"Whose your handsome fella?" I yell to Maddie, she smiles while patting her gorgeous gelding, he's pure black with 4 even socks and a blaze on his face, he's a bit taller than lucky, probably 17hh? "He's going to be called Arrow" she replies I can tell that arrow is a Dutch warmblood but I'm still not sure about lucky.
Just when I'm most wondering, Ms Lee walks past, "umm excuse me, miss" I clear my throat so she knows it's me, "yes?" She looks at me slightly concerned. "What breed is this boy?" I smile weakly and she smiles back, "he's a Clydesdale cross thoroughbred! Perfect for eventing!" She continued her journey. Wow, I was way off.
Maddie and I leave our stalls at the same time and wait for Lili. We all walk together back to the hall ready to find out which dorms we're in!
HINT! Next chapter will be called, "when the drama starts." Super excited to start it tomorrow, anyway enjoy this new chapter, I tried to add detail.
