A silence filled between them as D.Va waited patiently for Sombra to tell her secret.
"So what's your secret?" asked D.Va.
Sombra didn't answer her for a moment and sat in thought.
"Before I tell you, I had a quick question. Do you ever get the feeling when you lose someone who you really love?" ask Sombra. D.Va was a little confused by what Sombra meant.
"No, I haven't lost anyone that is precious to me. Are you talking about parents?" ask D.Va.
Sombra slightly smiled at the fact Hana had mentioned about her parents. It's funny to her to hear that word, only because she never had parents. She did not know what it was like to be loved by parents. She was raised by gangs called the Muerto gangs where she had learned to enhance her hacking skills. Not only did she learned how to hack but she was taught and raised to be a thief. However, this was something she couldn't tell D.Va because she was afraid that D.Va would not trust her if she knew she was raised by gangs who were obviously criminals. This meant that she was raised to be a criminal; trust is hard with someone who has done crimes in their lives. She had never had anyone to trust, not even Reaper or Widowmaker. D.va made her feel like she could trust her, but would revealing the truth of her past ruin that trust?
"Maybe I shouldn't tell you about it. It's too painful to say. I'm not sure you would trust me if I told you it," said Sombra. Her heart drops as she allowed herself to consume the sadness that filled inside her. She felt the same awful feeling back when she was at Talon. Loneliness. Fear. Isolation. What other awful feelings could she have felt?
"Well, I do trust you though," reply D.va. Sombra turned her attention towards D.Va without any emotion.
"Why do you trust someone like me? I am your enemy, or did you manage to forget that?"
"I know that, but you haven't killed me yet right?. You calling me here could have been a trap; you could have killed me already but it seems you chose not to. Something inside of you tells me that you don't." Sombra face turned slightly surprised by D'Va's kind approach as if D.va had read her mind.
She does have a point, I could've killed her right now, but what stopped me? Was it human kindness? Or was it the desire to fill this space of loneliness inside of her? Her mind dug deeper about Reaper and Widowmaker. What would Gabriel and Amelie think about her befriending an Overwatch ally? The thoughts in her head wanted to make her cry because whatever choice she picked was going to have terrible consequences.
D'va notices the emotion that was appearing on Sombra's face as gently place her hand over her's, causing her purpled haired enemy to look at her in startled.
"Getting a little touchy there aren't you?" ask Sombra with a slight smile. In fact, it was a sad smile, the smile that D'va could always see through.
"You were sad, so this is my way of trying to make you feel better," said D.Va.
" Oh, Hana, I'm not sad, I'm just-"
"You don't have to lie to me Sombra. I could always tell when a sad person is lying or not,"
Sombra held back from saying anything else and grin to herself to a realization that D.Va had seen through her. Unlike any human being that she had met, D.Va knew exactly how she felt as her heart is suddenly filled with love and passion.
'Oh my, Sombra, you're getting a little too soft here. Pull yourself together,' thought Sombra.
They continue to sit on the peaceful beach with their touching hands as the sky turned bright orange and the sun began to set. This was certainly the first time Sombra has felt so close with. The consequences of her befriending an Overwatch agent escaped her mind, causing her mind to relax and without worry. The two of them sat together in silence for a long time, until D'Va's voice began to ring which interrupted the peace. D'Va took out her phone to see that Soldier 76 had called her.
