Alexander's day went by incredibly slow. He did his best to take notes in his last class, but all his thoughts had been consumed by his morning with Peggy.
"I can't believe you did that Alexander, he thought "You've never even talked to Eliza, what made you think it was a good idea to leave this interaction in Peggy's hands.
Sure, Alexander loved Peggy, but he had always preferred to meet people on his own terms. He didn't enjoy parties or even just "friendly outings" because he was introduced to people he didn't know anything about. On his own, he could see what classes they took with him or interests they both shared. But now he was stuck with an excited Peggy and a clueless Eliza.
"This is your fault so now you have to deal with it." Alexander sighed when a familiar face tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey Alex, do you think I can borrow your notes? I came a little late so just the first twenty minutes of the lecture would be fine."
"Oh sure Aaron, here you go," Alexander smiled, passing his journal to his friend.
Alexander had met Aaron Burr last year when he had found out they were both going to double major in the same fields: English and Business. Aaron was very resourceful and quick-witted just like Alexander but Aaron was also very patient, something he was not. Alexander was willing to do anything to make his dreams come true will his friend was "willing to wait for it." They had gotten into their fair share of arguments over school work and how to properly execute it when they studied together at his dorm, but Alexander always appreciated Aaron for everything he had done for him. Alexander had him for almost every class, so he was happy to see a familiar face in the sea of people.
"What's this?" Aaron said with a slight chuckle as he examined the notes.
"Is there something wrong Burr w-" Alexander stopped mid sentence when he saw what Burr had been pointing to. A small doodle of himself with Eliza was drawn on the left corner of his page. Alexander hadn't even noticed that he doodled on his papers. His cheeks had already started turning red when he grabbed the paper and started erasing.
"Don't call me Burr, Hamilton," A big smile was already plastered on Burr's face when Alexander passed his notes back. "Im pleasantly surprised Alexander, you've fallen for someone." His hand went down and patted Alexander's shoulder to show that he was happy for the young man.
"It's not what you think Burr, I-"
"Whos the lucky girl?" Burr cutting Alexander off. Most of the students had already left, so it was them two left with the professor.
"Come on Burr, I'll tell on the way to my dorm," Alexander sighed while putting away his things. Burr just laughed, silently waiting for his friend.
---
"Before I tell you anything, can you help me figure out who my roommate is?" Alexander was holding up a piece of paper with the information on his dorm.
"Im surprised "Mr. I need my space and privacy" got a roommate." Burr chuckled at the thought of Alexander trying to make new friends.
"Fuck off, his name is Gilbert Lafayette, any chances that you know him?" replied Alexander, laughing as he did.
"He's a French exchange student, a sophomore but he doesn't have any classes with us, and he seems like a pretty great guy from what I've heard."
Burr was a social butterfly, so it didn't faze Alexander that he knew so much about someone he had never even talked to.
"So who's-" Burr was about to ask something when Alexanders phone buzzed.
Peg leg: Alex met me at the cafe in 10, Eliza is sitting at your booth. Order her a hot chocolate and a cinnamon bun, her favorite. Have fun :D
Burr was only able to get a quick glance before Alexander's entire face went pink.
"Who's "Peg Leg?" he asked laughing wondering what he could be so nervous about.
"A friend, we watched a pirate movie once and she loved it. Anyways I have to go, Text me when you're done with the notes and I'll tell you everything soon!" Alexander had quickly said before running in the opposite direction to the coffee shop.
"Don't be nervous Alexander, this will be fun." Alexander was running as fast as he could as to not keep the young girl waiting. "You're almost there, slow down so it doesn't look as if ran here." He slowed down to his normal walking speed keeping his breaths slow and steady. He would be there in just a minute. "Hot chocolate and a cinnamon bun, Hot chocolate, and a cinnamon bun," was all Alexander could think as he was about to open the door.
"Okay Alexander, here we go."
And for the first time in his life, his heart went boom.
