I just stared at the bus, waiting for Trevor to come out of the door. My heavy breathing got faster.
Taliana answered Lester. "Pretty sure the crash took out the driver. Frank's in there now."
"Eden, you holding up?"
"Yeah. I'm fine."
"Could you stop breathing like that. Its giving me a headache."
"Silly me thought you cared about me for a second."
"Took you fucking long enough." I heard his voice, and turned back to the bus. "Oh, hey Dollface."
I was never so happy to hear those words before. Those words were all I thought of since the last time I saw him. "Hey, Trevor." I smiled. My breathing returned to normal volume, but I still took deep breaths. I know now he's okay.
He climbed in the back with me, and Franklin returned to the passenger seat.
"It's taken care of." Franklin told Lester.
"Yeah, by me." Trevor laughed.
"Well, Taliana got the driver and one guard by impact."
"Well I finished the job."
I smiled at him, and when he looked at me, I blushed and looked away. He looked at me the whole way back to his trailer.
I finally looked back at him, and said, "I'm glad your okay."
"I'm guessing you had something to do with this."
"Kind of. Lester planned it. I-"
He cut me off, "Did you realize anything?"
"I realized this job is too much for me."
His face turned from a smile to a frown, "Realize anything about me and you, Eden?"
"Trevor-"
"Eden. I could easily be fucking pissed at you for fucking up. But-" He took a deep breathe and calmed down a bit. "But, I know why you messed up. Do you know why you messed up?"
"Because I like you?"
"Fucking bingo."
We pulled up to the trailer. Lester came down off the porch to greet us. Trevor jumped out of the bed of the truck, and offered me and hand down, which I gladly took. After jumping down, His hand stayed touching mine, so I took the hint and grabbed on to it. I felt him squeeze tighter. Am I really special to him? Why is it so much easier now? Why am I not sweating, or feeling panicked? Before he was gone, I couldn't be around him without feeling on edge. Now I feel safe. What changed so quickly?
Trevor looked at me, before releasing my hand. He walked to Lester and spoke with him for a minute, out of earshot. Then they waved the three of us over to the stairs of the trailer.
Trevor glanced at me before saying, "Thank you, Frank for coming out here to help get me out. Even though I did more in my rescue mission to save my own ass, I still appreciate you. And thank you too, Tailana."
"Just helping a friend." She smiled, and Franklin agreed with a nod. "We should get going. Leave them alone."
"Yeah you should." Trevor said, as he moved next to me and took my hand back into his.
Taliana waved, and left.
"Well, how am I supposed to get home?" Lester whined.
"I got you, man." Franklin said.
As they all turned to leave, Lester turned back. "Eden, if you change your mind, the jobs still yours."
"She'll think about it." Trevor answered. He then lead me into the trailer. As i got slight butterflies thinking of being alone with T, I realized its different today because I admitted my feelings, I'm not afraid anymore. Of him, at least, anyway.
