Adrien: at school next morning

Where is Plagg? He wasn't there the whole day yesterday after our conversation.

"Hi Adrien, what's th-the matter, you look strangely thoughtful today," Marinette said as she accomplished to usher out a sentence.

"Huh? Oh! Nothing," Adrien bolted out of his seat. She nodded, but it was clear some other thought had caught her attention.

"You remind me of Chat... always jumping back into reality like that," Marinette murmured quietly as she began walking away.

"You don't say," Plagg whispered from inside his backpack. Adrien peeked inside his bag and mouthed,

"When did you get in there!?!" Plagg smiled knowingly,

"Mari's on to you," He teased. Adrien 'gently' kicked the bag, scolding the little kwami to shut his mouth. Plagg grunted and curled up against a book.

Marinette took her seat next to Alya.

Could Adrien be Chat Noir? Nah, they're nothing alike, Chat is flirty and overly talkative. Adrien is reserved and polite.

"Marinette! Marinette Dupain Cheng!" The teacher called. Marinette jumped in her seat.

"Here!" She blurted out. Adrien turned around in his seat.

"See, everyone jumps out of thoughts sometimes," Adrien stated calmly.

Ok suspicions are off.
Stop blushing Marinette!
And speak quieter next time! He heard you talking about Chat!

Marinette just nodded and smiled like an idiot. Adrien chuckled a little as he said,

"Page forty six," He pointed at the textbook in front of her.

Was I really that distracted?!?

Marinette wasn't able to respond. Her blush was so warm she felt if she opened her mouth to speak her tongue would burn up with all the radiation.

She nodded quickly and scanned through the book and found the page number. Adrien turned back around and focused back onto his reading.

"Um, Miss? May I go fill up my water bottle? I'm sooo thirsty." Chloe said in an exaggerated tone. The teacher nodded hesitantly.

As Chloe walked out of her seat she spilled the remaining water onto Marinette, who gasped and looked up.

"Oh don't look at me like that Maritrash, like seriously, your clothes were begging for a wash," Chloe spat. "Make that warning number one, Stay away from MY Adrikins!" She hissed.

"Make this my warning, stay away from ME, you, you power hungry pest!" Marinette raged with watering eyes.

"What are you gonna do about it?" She snapped.

"Knock it off, Chloe," Adrien said as he turned in a bully awareness sheet to the teacher. It only took one glance at the page for the teacher to say,

"Chloe to the principal's office, now!"

Chloe looked appalled. How could Adrikins betray me like that?

"But..." She started.

"Now! We cannot tolerate such behavior in our school," The teacher said as she handed Chloe the form for the principal. Chloe looked down at the page, her glance went down to where it said 'witnesses' and under that line was a name finely printed in black ink. It read: Adrien Agreste. Her face twisted into a knot.

Chloe stormed out of the room.

Alya was comforting Marinette, who was drying off her tears.

Adrien couldn't take it anymore. He walked over to Marinette, Alya moved to the side. He then placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I swear I will never let her hurt you again," He whispered.

What he did next surprised the whole room.

He pulled her in for a hug.

A wave of chattering whispers filled the room.

Marinette slowly returned the hug as she stifled her cries into his shoulder.

"It's ok Mari, everything will be fine," Adrien reassured her.

"What if, everything won't?" She whimpered.

Flashback*
She was lying in the hospital bed, they gave me a chance to see her.

"Mom?" I whispered as I slowly opened the door. She smiled weakly. I walked over and stood next to her.

"How's my little prince?" She greeted me sweetly as she gave a gentle squeeze to my hand.

"Worried." I managed to cough out without bursting into tears.

"Come here," She whispered. She embraced me in her arms, I couldn't help but to melt into the hug. "Everything will be alright," She reassured.

"What if, everything won't,"  I said as I hugged her tighter.

"Well, maybe it won't. But that's why there are rainbows after storms,"

The machine started beeping. Her arms lost its grip, her eyelids closed upon her lively green eyes.

"Mom!" I shouted. "Mom! Wake up! Mom!" I wailed.

"Call her princess," she mouthed.

"Nooo!" I cried. I held her hand searching for a touch of warmth.

I pressed my lips against her hand, and everything went cold. The nurses barged in and pulled me out of the room.

...

"What if, everything won't?" Marinette whimpered as she hugged him tighter.

"Well, maybe it won't, but that's why there are rainbows after storms," Adrien stated as he leaned in and pressed his lips against her own.
