trigger warning: guns, murder, abuse

Every newspaper featured at least one article of Leigh Daniel Avidan.

He wasn't well known for his music, as he would have liked in a previous life. He was infamous for the murders of many innocents and leading others to follow in his footsteps. It was so opposite of what he was like in other lives that Arin couldn't believe it at first.

Now, Arin sat on his porch. He lived downtown, several stories high. It was raining, occasionally thunder making itself known. The thunder scared Arin, it reminded him of what could've been.

Arin held today's paper, the front cover being dedicated to Daniel. It told about his first attack and most recent attack.

His first was at a crowded restaurant. He walked in and ended up shooting and killing 17 people. His most recent was at an apartment complex, going into people homes and taking them. The newspaper also warning that Daniel was close to where Arin lived.

Arin knows he should be scared. Every time there was a warning as to where Daniel was, there was an attack there. But Arin's heart pounded with sadness and grief as to what Daniel had become.

Arin's head snapped to look inside his apartment. He heard a noise. It sounded like something hard hitting the wall next door.

Arin discarded the newspaper, he creeped slowly back inside. There was a creepy, eerie silence that surrounded him.

Arin stood still in the middle of his living room, listening hard. He could just hear, and feel the rumbling in the ground, of many people walking. Another thud against Arin's wall. He gulped.

Arin heard the jiggle of his door knob. He slowly turned his head to his front door, just in time to see it being unlocked.

It opened just a crack. Arin was frozen in the middle of his living room. He saw his door slowly being pushed open, the light from the outside casting long shadows in Arin's dark apartment.

Soundlessly, two people stepped into Arin's apartment, closing the door behind them and shutting them into darkness.

Arin was still in frozen silence. It made his stomach feel empty when he realized how fucked he was, how quietly they got everything done. Arin wondered what was going to happen when they shot him. Would he be taken to the government for supernatural testing? Would he be kept in a zoo for people to look at? Thunder cracked outside and a shiver ran down Arin's back.

The two people saw Arin and walked over, their joy evident in their stride. Their faces emerged in the light from the storm outside.

Even though Arin knew what Daniel looked like, he was still surprised. The newspaper descriptions really didn't do him justice. His hair was shaved on both sides, longer on top - a style Arin hadn't seen on Daniel. He had a scar that ran across his face; from just above his eyebrow, just missing his eyes, to disappearing under the mask he was wearing. The mask; being blue in color with a red Star of David.

He held up a large gun, leaning it on his hip. His jacket was covered in red splats that Arin didn't want to think about.

He was also wearing boots that made him taller than Arin. That added to the strangeness of the situation.

Next to Daniel was his number one partner in crime, Brian Wecht. He was also wearing a mask, it was black with dragons on it. Burn marks on his face gave evidence that that he was hiding more under his mark. He held a knife in each hand, more at his belt.
