Silentsong's Cry

Chapter 11

Hey guys! I just wanted to make a quick thank you. So we reached over 300 views! 354 last time I checked. That is incredible! I never thought that it would get this much attention! Thank you guys so much. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Now here's the chapter!

  "Y-your what?" Echopaw stuttered, voicing our shock at our mother.

    "I'm having kits." Softhollow gestured to her round belly.

    "I-i- we uh. When are they due?" Echopaw managed to ask.

   "Maybe in the next moon or two." Softhollow answered.

    "Now, you can just clean out the moss and redo it." Brightflower nodded to us. "We'll be laying in the sun. Or whats left of it at least."

    Softhollow and Brightflower made their way out of the den. We started to claw away the moss, clearing the den of it. Quickly making it a pile outside we started on laying down new moss.

    "Oh good. There's extra moss." Echopaw breathed in relief as we stared at our little pile of clean pile. I nodded at the used moss.

    "Right." Echopaw and I carried it to the dirt place. We placed it in a moss corner and quickly went out of there.

    "Um. Which den should we do now?" Echopaw asked, staring at the little pile of moss we had left.

    I looked at her. Giving her a small smile. She groaned. I would have to. We walked out of camp again, to take another load of the moss back.

    "But seriously, which den to?" Echopaw asked again, rolling up some moss. "This is the last load. I put the other stuff outside the camp."

     I glared at her.

     "Sorry!" Echopaw giggled. "I forgot!"

   "Getting forgetful, eh?" Lionpaw sneered, walking past us to camp. "Maybe we should move you to the elders den!"

   Sedgepond cuffed him in the ear. "Your tending to the elders today, not them!"

    "He was just teasing." Applesong glared.

    "I don't care. He is still on elder duty." Sedgepond shrugged and ushered the two other cats off.

     "Oh wow." Echopaw  breathed. I nudged her. "Oh right! Moss!"

    We carried the rest of the moss back to camp. Echopaw added the moss outside the camp to her load.

    "Whrmp yoonph wammnaph goph?" Echopaw mumbled. A/N: 5 points to whoever can guess what she said!

     I led her to the warriors den. It was empty. Expect Specklescar. He was fast asleep.

     We set down our moss and got to work. Time seemed to fly with jokes and the occasional: "Be quiet!" From Specklescar, which made more giggling.

    Soon we had cleaned every nest except Miststar's.

    "She gave you permission to go inside." Echopaw nudged me and handed me some moss.

    I took a breath and leapt up to Miststar's den, stepping inside.

    There was no one in there. I spotted two nests. I figured one for Miststar and one for anyone visiting. Either way I cleaned them both and switched the moss. I picked up the dirty moss and with Echopaw, we brought all the dirty moss to the dirt place.

     We made our way to the fresh-kill pile for some prey. We deserved it.

     "What were you doing in Miststar's den, huh?" Lionpaw asked. "Snooping?"

      "Nope. She was cleaning it." Echopaw answered.

       "I'm asking her, oh wait. You can't talk!" Lionpaw laughed before walking off.

       "Don't mind him. He's just being mean." Echopaw rested her paw on mine. I gave her a soft smile.

     We turned back to the pile of prey. After surveying, we both picked up a mouse. I picked up a vole as well. We walked to our usual spot to eat. Echopaw layed down. I set down my mouse and raised my tail. I padded towards the nursery.

     I poked my head inside, Softhollow was laying down. Her belly round with the kits. I smiled. *I'm going to have more kin! Eee!*

      Softhollow lifted her head.

       "Hello Silentpaw." She dipped her head to me. I padded over and placed the vole in front of her. "Thanks. Now go on."

She nudged me towards the exit. I smiled and exited the den. I spotted Echopaw, she was looking straight at me. I ran to her and gave her an apologetic smile.

            "It's okay." Echopaw gave me a small smile. "Now eat that mouse before I do!"

I gave a snort and instantly started to devour the mouse when I layed down. As I did, I finally realized the pain I was in. I winced in pain, my paws were catching up to me. Echopaw saw it.

         "You should go visit Creampond. She can help you." Echopaw licked my shoulder. "You're still healing."

       I gave her a nod and finished the mouse.

         "That means now." Echopaw gave me a cold stare. I raised my tail in defeat before bounding towards the medicine cat den.

       Lionpaw was exiting the den when I was headed towards the entrance. He glared at me. He gave a snort.

        "Hey mute! Go where you belong. The ground!" He laughed and shoved me to the ground. I toppled over and layed there, catching my breath. He just walked off. *He hasn't changed.*
