Chap. 36

*Kylie

"I can't believe she would break up with him!" Jess shouts, turning her phone off.

I roll my eyes. Ever since I showed her Wattpad, she was hooked. I couldn't get her off the app and I would occasionally catch her smiling at her phone like an idiot. She's reading a new book now and apparently some girl broke up with some guy.

"Who, Jess?" I ask.

She frowns. "Ok, so, Marnie and Jake, totally love each other but Marnie's stupid parents don't want them together. Jake was coming over for their date and she fucking broke up with him! What a bitch!"

Asher chuckles. "I wouldn't want to be, Marnie, right now."

"Who the fuck names their kid, Marnie, anyway!" Jess yells. Wow, she seems very... passionate.

"I'm gonna name my kid, Marnie, now."

"Sounds like a name you'd choose," Asher says to a scowling Colton.

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean!"

"Will you shut the hell up!" A frustrated old man yells.

Jovie flips him off. "We're at the park, not the fucking library!"

The old man leaves and a group of rowdy frat boys replace him. They hoot and holler about some 'hot bitch at cheer practice'. They're louder than us but at least they won't complain about our yelling.

"You're so rude to your elders," Asher complains.

She glares at him. "I'll break up with you."

"Never mind, fuck that old guy," He says, pulling her into his lap.

"I'm an old guy!" One of the guys at the table hollers.

"And you'll be a dead one too," Asher snaps.

A bunch of oohhs erupt from their group and the guy holds his hands up in surrender. His eyes then look my way and he smirks.

Buddy, you don't want to do this.

"What about you? You wanna fuck?" He asks me.

"No tha-"

Bryan interrupts and grabs the guy by his collar, lifting him off the ground. "Say it again."

"A-Aye bro, I meant no harm."

"Well guess what?" Bryan asks.

"What?"

"I do."

And after that, Bryan got us kicked from the park.

"What did you want to talk about?"

Asher gulps. "Well..."

"Well?"

"I'm bisexual," He mumbles, not looking in my direction.

Woah! Why didn't he tell me before!?

My eyes widen in shock. "And why was I not notified of this before?"

"I thought you'd judge me. I really hope it's not a problem, Ky."

"Why would it be a problem?" I ask, playfully hitting his shoulder.

"Cause a lot of people are against it and-"

"As long as you don't cheat on, Jovie, then I don't have a problem."

He sighs. "That's another thing."

"What?"

"I used to date, Aaron."

"WHAT?!!" I scream.

Asher grimaces. "I expected that. But yeah, I kind of cheated on him."

Asher dated Aaron! And fucking cheated on him!

"With who?"

"Jovie." He sighs. "But it was a couple years ago so I don't get why he's still upset."

I shrug. "Maybe he loved you."

"I loved him too but I was confused! I liked Jovie but I loved him. My dad hated me for being gay and did anything so I wouldn't be tainted, as he would say. I tried to explain but he wouldn't listen, Ky, I swear!"

"Asher, calm down," I say, resting my hand on his arm.

"I had nobody," He whispered.

I find myself shaking with rage. "How could your own father not accept you!? That's complete bullshit! What a bastard!"

"He hated me because I reminded him of himself. He cheated on my mom with a guy who was supposedly his best friend but really they were fucking."

"Wow," I whisper.

"Yeah," He says, scratching the back of his head.

"I want my girlfriend!" Bryan yells from the other room.

I want you too, Bryan.

Asher follows me into the living room, where the rest of the group lay sprawled around the tv. Jess is balled up in a pink blanket on the love-seat, Colton is on the floor texting, Jovie is on the floor reading a book, and Bryan is waiting for me on the sectional. I take my seat beside Bryan and he gives me a small peck on my crown.

I love these moments where we can just lay around together and not have to worry about anything. But why do I feel like everything is about to change?
