Shadow the Hedgehog hated noise. More specifically, the noise that came from other so-called "intelligent" creatures
So, to escape that, he liked spending time in the woods where he could enjoy a moments worth of peace, away from the irritating chatter of society.
But today he did not find what he was looking for.
He had only just arrived when he heard a commotion not too far from him."What the hell is that?" Shadow thought, annoyed. It clearly wasn't a forest animal; it sounded like a female voice.
He stealthily moved closer to the source of the noise. Undetected. he peered into a small clearing, where he saw a lilac cat talking to herself and freaking out.
"I need to get out of here and find out where I am," she said, and ran off.
Intrigued and suspicious of this stranger's odd appearance, Shadow decided to investigate.
"My quiet time has been ruined anyways," he thought.
As he followed her, she proved increasingly interesting. Her speed, though not the best, was still impressive. Shadow was sure he had never seen her before; he would definitely remember her.
"What was she doing in the middle of the forest? She didn't seem like she was there by choice."
They soon reached the outskirts of the city, where the cat ran to a small stand, that, among other things, sold newspapers. She quickly grabbed one and scanned the front page
"What?!?" Shadow could hear her exclaim from where he was watching
"T-t-this can't be possible! This has to be some kind of joke!"
"What is she so surprised about?" Shadow wondered.
The man at the stand, who had been hiving her annoyed looks, began talking to her, low enough that Shadow could not hear, but it was clear from his facial expression that he was not asking about the weather.
She responded just as fiercely and things looked as if they would soon get out of hand.
"Whatever's happening to that cat, its best to investigate it more closely, without making such a scene." Who knows who or what had caused her to get so flustered. Perhaps it had been Eggman or some other scum with some new plan to "take over the world".
He was just about to approach her when an annoyingly familiar voice shouted:
"BLAZE! Long time no see!"
"You've got to be kidding me." Shadow groaned.
