It was a hot summer evening, Elizabeth, a young playful fox was sitting on her porch looking at the pastel sky. She had light orange fur, green eyes, and a big fluffy tail. She wore a green dress and cream colored shoes. "Elizabeth!" Called her mother from inside, "Elizabth, your father will be here soon, get inside it's time for dinner." Elizabth's mother had reddish fur, light green eyes, and a very long tail. "Coming mother!" Elizabeth called out. Her mother, Eva, had recently had a child. Her name was Nina, she looked just like Elizabeth, except she had reddish cheeks. Elizabeth came into the house, and saw her mother on the phone."Mother?" Elizabth looked at her mother, who's expression changed from a smile to a sorrowful face. "Mother?" continued asking the small fox. Eva, looked at her daughter with tears in her eyes. She hugged her daughter and cried, the small fox was clueless of what was happening but hugged her mother anyways. Nina started crying, Eva left to go attend to her, Elizabeth was confused on why her mother was crying, so she followed her mother into the room and asked her.
"Mother, why are you crying?"
"Oh Elizabeth, something terrible has happened."
"Is it something about Nina?"
"No, your father....your father was in an accident...and he lost his life." she began to cry again.
Elizabeth was shocked, she too began to cry, her ears dropped. Nina, was calm now since Eva changed her diaper. She was the only one who wasn't crying, for the other two where sobbing.
"No, that can't be."
"Yes sweetie, it's true."
The small fox walked to the living room and sat down on a chair, she looked at a family portrait of the family before Nina was born, "just this morning, we ate breakfast together....now...he's gone." the small fox ran outside to their porch. It was now almost dark, she sat on a small swing her dad made for her, "why?! Why did you leave us?!" her eyes, now filling with anger and confusion, "you promised us you would never leave! Now...you're gone."
"You promised."
