"It's now been a couple of years since my father passed." Elizabeth was writing in her diary. "I've been helping my mother with everything, I sometimes feel like I'm no longer a kid; but that's okay as long as I can keep my family happy."

"Elizabeth go outside with Nina!" shouted Eva from the kitchen

Elizabeth got her basket and headed outside. Nina was sitting on a small checkered blanket. Elizabeth walked towards her and smiled.

"Are you exited for your birthday?!" She yelled in excitement.

"Yes!"  Shouted the small fox.

Elizabeth got her basket and set it infront of them, "I forgot our umbrella, wait here while I go get it." she darted into the house looking for the umbrella. Nina came running inside.

"Someone stole Mr.Carl!" She screamed. Elizabeth being protective of her sister ran outside ready to stand up to whoever stole her sister's doll. She saw a male fox, about her age with the doll.

"That's my sister's I would appreciate it if you would give it to her please." Said Elizabeth with a stern look. The other fox looked at her straight in the eyes; "no." he said. Elizabeth, taking her gloves off "why?!" she said making her voice sterner. "I don't have to return this; my family is rich, unlike yours. Your father died and now, your desperate for anything." said the fox as he dropped Nina's doll in some mud. Elizabeth enraged and shocked by what he said; she walked towards him "You have no right to say that, it's non of your business to say lies about my family." she grabbed Nina's hand, picked up her doll, got the rest of their things, and went inside.

"He wasn't nice." said Nina, as her ears dropped. Elizabeth, still infuriated "I don't understand his problem, he can't just say mean things." Eva came inside, "oh heavens, what on earth happened to you?!" she looked at Elizabeth. The small fox looked down at her shoes, "oh no!" they where caked with mud. "I'm sorry mother." said Elizabeth in disappointment as her ears dropped. Nina looked at her sister as she went upstairs to her room.

"Mother, why did you send Elizabeth to her room, did she do wrong?" squeaked the little fox.

"Aunt Molly is coming over for dinner and-" she sighs  "We don't have enough money to buy clothing or food, what we have right now has to last us, Elizabeth just ruined a perfectly good pair of shoes."

"So we won't be able to buy biscuits?" said the little fox with tears in her eyes.

"Sweetie, we still have money for biscuits." said Eva with a chuckle. Elizabeth came downstairs with clean shoes. "When is aunt Molly coming-" as soon as Elizabeth said so, the doorbell rang.
