AU: Basically what happened in Friends with the whole Ross/Rachel/Julie thing.

When Isaac got off the plane from France, Scott could hear his heart rapidly beat against his ribs, even without his wolf hearing.

When Isaac got off the plane with a girl, Scott could hear that same heart getting squeezed until it popped.

She was gorgeous. Her chocolate hair flown just below her shoulders, and her hickory eyes defined her entire face as one to be worshipped. The scar on his cheek that Scott had always hated sudden burned, making him feel ugly. Tighter and tighter did his throat seem get, he clawed at it, making sure their wasn't a snake choking him. His thoughts were tripping over each other like clumsy children.

Scott felt the flowers he had brought for Isaac slip out of his hand as he watched him swing his arm around the mysterious girl. Rejection slapped him.

All the while, Scott had to smile, he force the tears that swam in his eyes down to a minimum. The grin that was plastered on his face was immensely superficial, but Isaac couldn't be more oblivious. They hugged and reunited as old friends should, but Scott felt as though the whole thing was a terrible catastrophe that only Shakespeare could create. Isaac had introduced Scott to his new girlfriend, Stella, as painfully enthusiastically as possible. Scott nodded along politely as the blond absolutely hushed about her, despite wanting to strangle himself.

Scott drove back to the apartment in silence, agonizingly listening to Isaac and Stella's every laugh and inside joke that they had recalled from their time in France.
Where was Chris when this was all happening? Scott thought bitterly, but he decided to keep his mouth shut.

"So?" Stiles asked, Erica, Derek, Boyd and Lydia eagerly awaiting for the two of them. "Did you tell him?"
Scott set his keys on the counter of their apartment. "It went great!" Scott exclaimed sarcastically. For a second, Stiles couldn't detect the hint of hysteria in his voice, and almost if on cue, Isaac and Stella came in, acting as obnoxiously cute as possible.
Scott reapplied his supportive facade, helping Isaac and Stella with their bags. For some wild reason, Scott even offered up his room to the couple.
"You two need your rest, it's fine. I'll take the couch tonight."

For the rest of the night, Scott had to endure story after story. Isaac looked like an excited puppy, reuniting with his friends after a year or two, and damn was it cute.

Or it would have been, if not all he talked about was how he and Stella met, then "almost immediately fell in love."
"I think I'm going to be sick," Scott whispered disgustedly to Stiles, walking out onto the balcony to clear his head. Scott banged his forehead on the railing. How did this even happen?

How long had he sat out in the cold, ten minutes? Twenty? Regardless, he couldn't help but replay the sweet moment of bliss when Isaac emerged from the airport terminal, and the devastating crash when Scott realized he wasn't alone. Scott reached into the mini cooler they had kept outside for parties, digging out a beer. He must've have drank three before Stiles joined him outside.
"You okay, buddy?" He asked cautiously, popping open a beer himself.
"No," Scott grunted.
".. Do you want to talk about?"
"No," he said once more, taking a huge swig.
"If it helps," Stiles started, attempting to console his best friend. "She looks exactly like you."
Scott rolled his eyes.
"I'm serious, we all agree!" Stiles said.
Scott muttered grumpily in response. "You guys said he liked me."
"And he did! A-At least.."
"Stiles, you are seriously not helping."
"Look, Scott... I'm- I'm sorry, okay? I wish their was something I could do." Stiles collected Scott's empty beer bottles. "The best thing for you right now is to get some sleep, okay?" Scott once again mumbled a reply as Stiles gave his friend a pat on the back.

Scott wished he could fall asleep, but he couldn't. His mind constantly reminded him that the man he loved was sleeping in Scott's  bed with his girlfriend. Scott's own bed. It taunted him. Here he was, sleeping on the crappy couch he and Stiles had bought as a joke at a yard sale, while they were having the time of their lives.

That night, even while Scott was in a deep sleep, all of his heart strings seemed snap.
