Hey guys! First and foremost I want to thank you all for 20k reads— which is actually insanity. You guys made this possible and I'm incredibly grateful.
So I figured I would update: However I haven't written in awhile and I might be a tad rusty..
Either way, I hope you enjoy and thanks again! :)

"Why are we even reading this?" Scott groaned, tossing his copy of Romeo and Juliet aside, his frustration just pages away from exploding.
"Because its a classic?" Isaac replied, picking it off of his floor and reopening to the page.
Scott and Isaac were two hours in and halfway through their Romeo and Juliet study session— and Scott was struggling.
Perhaps "struggling" didn't exactly capture it.
If Scott McCall were to be swimming, and the ocean happened to be Shakespeare, there would be a cement block tied to his leg.
He was drowning in old English, and he hated it.
"If we know how it's going to end, why do we even need to know what's in the middle?" Scott whined, pulling his pillow over his face. He and Isaac had been sitting on his bed so long his back was starting to ache.
"Because it makes it more tragic," Isaac explained, tossing it aside to hand Scott the book again. "Keep reading."
"I can't do this. I'm going to fail English." Scott complained, narrowing his eyes at the text.
Isaac sighed and turned to face him. "Wanna know what always helps me, through any Shakespeare book?"
"What?" Scott asked miserably, head in hands.
Isaac grinned. "He always writes one character in his plays passively gay."
Scott narrowed his eyes, taking a minute to process. "Bullshit."
"I'm not even kidding," Isaac said, hand over his heart. "Take a look at Mercutio. He was hella gay for Romeo.
Scott leaned on his elbows, studying Isaac with suspicion. "Prove it"
"Do you want me to start with the dick jokes, on page-"
Scott rolled his eyes. "Doesn't count."
Isaac thought for a moment, pressing his lips together in thought. He grabbed Scott's book, skimming through the pages until he found what he was looking for.
"Did you read the Queen Mab speech?"
Once again, Scott groaned. "If I did, and I understood it, I wouldn't be here studying with you."
Isaac nodded. "Basically, the entire passage is just Mercutio ranting about how sex with women is gross."
Scott was paused for a moment. "Really?"
"Do you want me to read it? It's actually really beautiful."
"I'll give you ten bucks if you prove to me that a monologue about sex is beautiful." Scott extended his hand.
Isaac shook it with no hesitation. He cleared his throat and began to read.
"She is the fairies' midwife, and she comes
In shape no bigger than an agate stone.."
As he began to listen to him, Scott was suddenly hyperaware of Isaac. Not as a whole, but individual parts of him that suddenly seemed more striking. His lips, while they were red, not the type of blood red as Rosaline's were described, but a much softer color. His eyes didn't shine like the stars, but they could still pierce the sky.
That's when he realized that Isaac wasn't getting closer to him, he was getting closer to Isaac.
As Isaac finished reciting the monologue, he turned to meet Scott's eyes, and he too, realized that the space between them was getting smaller and smaller, almost to the point where it made him claustrophobic.
Blood started rushing to Scott's head.
"See? Totally gay," Isaac practically whispered, making not effort to hide his stares at Scott's lips, stares that Scott gladly welcomed.

The intense kiss that followed felt necessary to a fault.
If their was one thing that Scott's relationship with Allison taught him, was that fate was just a concept. Maybe there was a force in the universe trying to bring about cosmic justice, but it never seemed to be on his side until now, as he was kissing Isaac with such determination that something inside him just released, and filled him with satisfaction.
Isaac laughed against the kiss, causing Scott to pull back a little in embarrassment.
"No," Isaac said, placing a hand on the nape of his neck. "I just- fuck. I wished we didn't have to study."
Scott almost sighed. "I guess I owe you ten bucks."
"I guess you do."
They weren't Romeo and Juliet, but maybe, just maybe, Isaac was his Mercurio.
