I walked up to this giant house in LA. They obviously have money so maybe they'd like the cookies. The rang the door bell which sounded like the Star Wars theme song. Classic.
Fast little pounding footsteps grew louder towards me. The door flew open revealing a little blonde boy.
"Hi buddy! Is your mom home?"
"My mom doesn't live here."
"Well what about your dad?" I asked.
A voice sounded "Yeah I'm here." A semi-short but attractive man appeared at the door. He stopped in his tracks when he saw me. Wow okay, I guess he was expecting to see someone else."
"Where's the pizza?" The little boy asked. I furrowed my eyebrows confused.
"Bronx go play." The man sent the boy away. "I'm sorry. We ordered pizza and he's starving."
"Oh! That's totally fine. I should have brought pizza then."
"If only you did. What can I do for you?" he asked.
"Well I uh.. I'm selling cookies to help fund the Kids in Need Fund, basically adults volunteer to sell these cookies to help raise money for kids and their families with disabilities. My little girl I'm representing is Emily. She's got Adamantinoma. It's aggressive tumors in the bone and they rapidly destroy the bone over time."
"Oh no.." Pete's face fell.
"The money is to help pay for surgeries."
"How much are the cookies?"
"Well a box is $7."
"Oh wow. How much do you have left?"
"Well I have 24 boxes left. I'm hoping to sell some of these today."
"I'll be back." The man walked away leaving the door open. I was left standing at the door.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped about as high as the Empire State building. I turned around ready to hit someone.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you." I noticed the pizza boxes in his hand. Oh.
"You're fine. I'm just glad you're not a serial killer." I laughed.
"Oh I promise I'm not haha." He was kinda cute. He wore a little fedora on top of his strawberry blonde hair and he had the cutest smile "Do I give you the pizzas?"
"Uh Yeah. How much?"
"$32.07 please."
"Here." I smiled. I handed him the money. "Keep the change."
"Oh thank you!"
"No problem." The boy walked back down the step towards his little Nissan.
I turned around waiting for the man to come back.
"I'm sorry I couldn't find my check book, I finally found it under the pile of bills my son calls The Devil papers." He noticed the pizza boxes. "He brought the pizzas?
"Huh? Oh yeah! Here. My hand is burning." I laughed handing him the pizzas.
"He didn't get paid though."
"I paid him no worries." I smiled.
"You didn't have to do that."
"No, but I wanted too. I promise I didn't use the money for Emily."
"Well here I'll pay you back." He reached for his check book.
"No. I won't take it. My treat. You're the only one today that actually seems to be interested in the cookies."
"Well here then." He scribbled on the check. "$168"
"You're going to buy them all?" I asked, shocked.
"Of course. Always happy to help those in need and besides that Bronx will like all the sugar."
"Well thank you..."
"Pete." He reached his hand out to me.
"Thanks Pete. I'm (Y/N)."
"Would you wanna come in for some pizza? You did pay for it after all."
"Sure why not. Pizza is always good."
