Chapter 3

I closed my eyes, breathing in and out, and placed my hand on the note.

What if.. what if I had a chance? A chance to meet my role model after all?

Even though there was a 99% chance that it wouldn't happen, that 1% inside me said yes.

Same thing with Bethany, she had that 1% in that heart, 99% weighed her down, but that 1% inside her kept her going. Kept her going to what she is today.

"SWEETIE! WE ARE OUT OF ORANGE JUICE!"

My mom clapped her hands twice and said, "MAY YOU GET SOME EXERCISE?'

When my mom says "exercise", it means that I go out and buy items for her. I was just like her slave, I was not treated like her daughter.

"Fine," I said, "I might need to get some stuff for school too."

I reached into my drawer and got out my wallet. I saved up money all by myself to support my family. My mom sat around watching TV all day, my older sister never wanted to move, never mind working.

So instead, I had to work 5 different jobs each week. I had to work all my energy to keep up for a family that doesn't even care about me.

Slipping on my gray Converse sneakers, I grab my purse and sling it across my shoulder. I slowly walk out, proudly showing my Bethany Mota shirt.

I finally walk into the market, and pick out some fresh orange juice, and some other food needed that was missing in the house. Oranges, apples, nutella, bread, meat, turkey, and more.

Once I was done, and on my way home, I saw the Starbucks logo shining bright.

Let me just take a break, I've been working so hard for almost all my life. Anyways, its my money.

I walked into the store and the beautiful store scent of coffee reached my nose. I ordered a Cotton Candy Frappuchino. I would've made one at home with Beth's DIY video, but:

1. I didn't have the ingredients

2. I didn't have a blender

3. I just didn't feel like making it in my horrible house

I paid for a small size drink and waited in line. When I got my order, I sat down at an empty table. I slurped my drink, the yummy frappuchino was so good.

When I was done, I decided to wash my sticky hands, so my mother wouldn't know that I bought Starbucks. She thinks that its a "waste of my money" and that I could use it to help her and my sister.

As I was about to swing open the door, the door opened first and swung into my face.

I didn't know what happened next, everything turned black.
