Something I have found helpful on my creative and business journey is understanding that there are different energies all around us. When I say energy, I'm referring to the space around you and the people in that space.
Since I spend much of my spare time alone, I am receptive to the energies of other people. Observation is key for me. By observing body language and listening to the way people talk and the things that they talk about, I've learnt to read between the lines. I can sense when a person has an energy that isn't compatible with my own. In turn I can start to think about the type of connection, if any, that this person and I can establish.
People that aren't supportive of what you do, be it friends or family, people who always find ways to highlight your shortfalls without giving constructive criticisms, are ones who have a negative energy that isn't compatible with your own. Instead of understanding you are pursuing your own goals and finding ways that are best for you to do this, they prefer to look at what you're not doing. This negative energy can begin to affect you and your perspective. You may start thinking you're not good enough or that you should do things in ways you aren't comfortable with to please others.
