Chapter Two - Melody's POV

Melody Pierce hummed a well-known tune, Blurred Lines, as she got herself presentable for band practice. She put on floral top and a black miniskirt that barely reached the middle of her thigh. She slipped on her pink Toms after putting some makeup on to highlight her green eyes.

Melody brushed out her tangled blonde mess of hair. As soon as she managed to maintain it, she straightened it: making it nice and sleek.

As a recently graduated 19 year old, she wanted to follow her path of becoming a triple threat; singing, acting, and dancing. Not to mention, she was interested in being a musician too. This made her put off the idea of college, which didn't make her mother too happy.

"I'm going, Mom!" Melody called out into the quiet house as she left. She slid into her small Dodge Avenger with a saxophone in one hand, and a phone in the other. Melody turned the radio up and sang along to every tune as she drove to her bandmate Adam's house.

Melody's mind was forever spinning, so she had trouble driving normally. Typical thoughts entered the teenager's mind, such as; What will happen at the party? or, Do I look okay?

Before she knew it, Melody reached her destination. Adam's house wasn't as lovely as hers, but she liked it. It felt more homely, rather than sophisticated. Melody got out and knocked on the door.

Adam opened the door, and to Melody's surprise, he didn't have a girl wrapped around him. Adam didn't have to try hard to get a lady; his looks did him justice. He was amazingly tall, with brown hair and misty gray eyes.

Melody knew better than to get into a relationship with him, though. As soon as he found a girl, he would get bored and dump her. "Where's your little play toy?" Melody grinned and walked inside.

Adam shrugged. "My watch is counting down. I have less then a day until I meet my forever bitch. I had to dump my last girl yesterday," He flashed a smile at Melody and led her to the rest of the band. The band wasn't too big, but wasn't too small. It included five members; Melody, Adam, Katarina, Hunter, and Frankie.

Melody was the lead female singer and saxophone player, while Adam was the lead male singer and guitar player. Katarina, also known as Kat, played the piano and keyboard. Hunter played the drums, and anything that pertains to percussion. Last but not least, Frankie only played the bass.

"Any new gigs you've found recently, Frank?" Adam asked. Each member had a specific job. Frankie was basically the manager, Melody was the advertiser, Adam was the leader, Hunter was the composer, and Kat was the 'costume' designer.

"Actually," Frankie answered, "We could perform at that party tonight. There's a competition for the best singer."

"But we can't all perform at that, because only two of us are singers," Kat pointed out. Melody nodded in agreement.

Frankie lowered his chocolate eyes to the floor, until an idea brightened his face, "The winner of the competition get's cash! If Melody or Adam wins, that's more money for advertisement."

"They should do a duet!" Kat giggled, her purple curls bouncing around. "Yeah, let the two lovebirds do a duet," Hunter agreed and shoved Adam towards Melody. Melody shot a dirty look at Hunter, as Adam's face turned a pale red.

"Actually, if I do recall, our watches are counting down with similar times. So, it's possible you're my new lovebird," Adam told Hunter. Hunter started fake-gagging and shoved Adam further away.

Frankie broke up the drama by giving directions, "Okay, duet is final. Hunter, help them choose a song that's familiar, so it captures the audience's attention. Kat, I'll help you make their outfits match." Everybody dispersed like an ant pile that just got ruined. Hunter, Melody, and Adam sat in one corner of the garage, while Kat and Frankie sat in another.

After an of hour, both groups were finished. They came together to inform each other on the final decision. "What'd y'all come up with?" Frankie asked.

"We're singing Someone Like You by Adele," Melody answered. Frankie nodded approvingly, and Kat started her ideas.

"Mel, you're going to wear that red dress you have, with black accessories." Melody nodded; recalling a strapless tight dress in her closet. "And Adam, you're wearing a red and black plaid shirt with black jeans." Adam shrugged.

Frankie grinned, placing his hand outward and into the air. Kat placed her hand on Frankie's, and everybody soon followed after. "Who are we?" Kat asked in her 'manly' voice.

"CELESTIAL BEATS!" Everybody screamed. Celestial Beats was the name of the band, because 'celestial' meant out of this world. Kat, the creative one, thought of it.

Almost everybody left. Kat and Hunter had to go back to their college. Frankie had to go to his job at a nearby restaurant. He didn't have enough money for college. Adam took online classes, since he was so busy. Melody was the last to leave, since she really didn't have anything to do.

"Are you ready for tonight?" Melody asked Adam. They were pretty close friends, since they have known each for awhile. Adam shook his head harshly; his brown hair flying.

"I'm kind of nervous," He admits, "What if the girl I have to love forever isn't who I like?" Adam huffed out a breath and sat down on the couch next to Melody. Melody comforted him by patting his shoulder.

"Don't be nervous. The watch will pair you with somebody perfect," Melody assured him. He rubbed his temples; a nervous habit he does constantly.

"What does your watch say?" Adam asked curiously. Melody's watch was hidden behind a slur of different bracelets. Melody swatted Adam away when he tried to reach for her wrist.

"I want to be surprised when I meet him," Melody pulled her bracelets up to cover up her watch. "I'll never know when it's going to happen." Adam shrugged.

Melody stood up; stretching her back muscles out. "I really should get going," She said. Adam nodded and stood up. "See you later!" Melody smiled. She picked up her phone and walked out, with Adam behind her.

As she drove away from Adam's house, she started thinking about her watch, as it was the only thing on her mind.
