Chapter Three - Delilah's POV
Delilah could not, and refused to believe what her eyes were seeing. Hunter Burns. The guy that tormented her all throughout her years of education, was currently standing right above her. How was this possible? She had been checking, and rechecking, that he did not have anything to do with this college whatsoever.
"You, you!" Delilah whisper screamed. At this point, her eyes and pupil had grown large in shock.
"Yes, me," Hunter responded with his signature smirk. He made no motions to help the poor girl up, leaving her to fend for herself.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Delilah snapped harshly at him, trying desperately to wipe the shock of off her face. She couldn't let him know that she was startled, scared even, at the fact that he was here in the flesh.
"Just thought I'd drop by and do some elephant hunting," Hunter casually states. Sarcasm does not leak into his voice at all. He knew that speaking calmly, especially when he was being sarcastic, would only serve to make her even more mad.
"Oh quit with the sarcasm, I don't have all day," Delilah snarled at him, wanting him to get to the point already. She couldn't stand it whenever someone didn't take her seriously, especially if that person's name was Hunter Burns.
"Why don't you? I mean, not going to lie, you are pretty lame. You just study and kiss up to your parent's ass all day," Hunter's eyes narrowed as he watched the girl closely for any type of reactions. He was curious as to if she knew about the party tonight and if she was going.
Delilah lets out a sarcastic laugh, "I'll have you know, I am a very busy person. I have job resumes to hand in. At least I'm trying to make something of my life unlike you. What? Do you really think the stupid little band of yours, Celestial Beets, would actually be a hit? Even the name doesn't sound appealing. Beets? What were you guys thinking? That's the worst vegetable out there!"
"Celestial Beats," Hunter corrected her harshly. On a normal day, he would've taken the insult and let it roll off of his shoulders, but when it comes to the band, lets just say no one messes with it. "Then again, what would you know about good music? Not like you go to any parties or anything. It's no wonder you related the band name to a fucking vegetable. While everyone is partying the night away and jamming along to the latest hits, you're sitting in your shabby little house eating vegetables and studying."
Something about the way Hunter snapped at Delilah made her flinch. She didn't want him to be mad at her for reasons unexplained. The party and vegetable comment hit a nerve for her.
"You know what, you, Hunter Burns, don't know shit about me! I actually have plans for tonight, unlike you, I'll be attending a party with my friend Autumn," Delilah didn't even think about what she was going to say before the words split out of her mouth. So much for staying inside and studying tonight.
"I'll be at that party," Hunter declared to Delilah. "I bet you won't even show up, but I'll be looking for you anyways. Let's see if all you do is talk."
With a sly smirk, Hunter walked right past Delilah, giving her a shove as he passed. "I'll be watching, and waiting," he whispered in Delilah's ear. His voice made shivers run down Delilah's spine.
She couldn't help but think back to Hunter's old stalking days. Delilah risked a look over her shoulders, the even bigger smirk on Hunter's face confirmed that he knew those words would give Delilah the chills.
The ride home was quiet and haunting. Delilah could not shake the feeling that she was being watched. Hunter had definitely freaked her out by showing up out of no where. She had slammed the door shut more forcefully than she should have when she got home that afternoon. Delilah let out a long sigh of relief before walking briskly into the kitchen where she found a sticky note on the fridge.
