Chapter X - The Trigger

At Maou's house were everyone was present..

"See! I'm not pregnant!" said Emi while showing five different types of pregnancy tests

Everybody were glaring at it and very surprised at the results as they were expecting a bundle of joy coming

Maou was not convinced "Emi, can you try it one more time?"

"Huh? You still don't believe these results?"

"Its not like that, I just want to.. check it one last time..."

"M-maou sama..." said Ashiya feeling sympathetic

"O-okay.. its up to you..." Emi respond 

Maou bought another 5 sets of different pregnancy tests, and as what the earlier results show, it is still negative.

"S-see?" said Emi

"Phew! I thought I'll be seeing a new kind of specie! What a waste..." said Urushihara

"Hmmm.. Well, she's not pregnant so I was wrong.. sorry..!" said Suzuno while looking at Maou

"Hm.. Maou, its okay... You'll be having a baby in time..." said Rika, trying to comfort him

Maou looking down.. "Let me just bring you to the hospital.."

"But.. Maou...? It will be just a waste of money" Emi said

"PLEASE!" he said

Every one was shocked with Maou's expression..

"O-okay..."

At the hospital...

"Hmmmmm... her ovaries and uterus are normal, I don't see any fetus inside her.." said the doctor while looking at the results of the ultrasound

"Are you sure doc??" asked by Maou

"Yes, yes... all normal.."

"Okay..." Maou sounded so disappointed while Emi stayed silent

They went home after the check up, but Maou wasn't speaking

"M-Maou?"

Maou still looking down

"I'm sorry if I'm not pregnant.."

Maou paused and looked at Emi "..its not your fault... Its my fault. There was not enough evidence that you were pregnant, but still I believed... and had this little hope fighting.." he gave her a sad smile..

Emi was shock by Maou's expression.. then she looked down, as she remembers the conversation between her, Emeralda and Albert at her apartment while Maou was outside buying candies

Emeralda: Emi, discard that fetus inside you, right now!

Emi: What!?

Emeralda: That thing is a demon! I'm warning you, it will create a massive chaos.

Emi: But! I'm not alone! Everyone will help raising our baby! We will make sure that nothing bad will happen!

Emeralda: We already tolerate you having an affair with the overlord! But now having a child!? Its a disgrace Emilia! You're the HERO!

Emi: ....but we're humans now... *looked down* and we love each other

Emeralda: You must not pursue the child, we will remove that thing out of you right now..

Emi left speechless... While Albert was just looking and letting Emeralda do the talking.
