After we discussed battle tactics with Vincent, I walked back to the cabin I

shared with Kenya. I sat at the table in the center of the main room and

waited, and waited. I was almost ready to go looking for her, when she

literally floated through the door.

“Who made you so happy?” I asked, eyeing her dreamy eyes.

“No one.” She said, floating to her room.

This went on for several days. Andy also caught my attention. They would

catch each other’s eyes a moment too long and then sort of smile to

themselves.

One night, it made perfect sense.

I was just about to fall asleep when a light shined through my window. I

was alert instantly and sat up. By the time I got to the window, the light was

gone of course, but I saw two figures walking around in the moonlight.

I rubbed my eyes and then squinted out my window at the couple, who

were still there. When they disappeared behind to trees, I grabbed my cloak

and ran outside. I turned the corner to see them sitting on the ground on a

blanket.

It took me just a second to recognize the girl, even quicker to the boy’s

pale hair.

“Oh. My. God.” I said.

They both whirled around and backed away from each other.

Andy spoke first, “I swear Kyra, it’s not what it looks like.”

“Oh really,” I retorted. “Because it really seems that you two are dating,

and last I heard, Kenya was promised to Trent.”

Yes, it was a confusing web. I had always suspected them, and everyone

knew that Kenya was promised to Trent. Her parents hated Andy and me. We

were freaks to them. Trent and Kenya didn’t like each other a bit. Dex loved

Kenya, Kenya loved Andy, and Andy loved her.

Suddenly it was all clear to me. Kenya’s strange behavior, the looks they

shared.

“Kyra, please don’t tell anyone.” Kenya sounded panicked. “I’ll do anything.”

I suddenly realized that she was genuinely scared that her parents would

find out about them. I suddenly had a bright idea.

“I won’t…. If you leave me alone and treat me like responsible person

instead of your younger sibling that’s three years old.” I looked pointedly at

Andy, who smiled innocently. That made Kenya glare at him. We both

laughed and then I left them to “date”.
