"LACEY! Do you know that everyone is looking for you?! How did you get in jail! I'm going to call Steve right now-"
I didn't let him finish.
"No! That is exactly what you are NOT going to do! He is going to be so disappointed in me!" I yelled into the phone desperately.
"Lacey, Steve will not be disappointed so just put that aside for now, I am bailing you out. I don't know how the police didn't know that everyone was looking for you because they didn't do anything! They are already looking for your father but they somehow didn't connect you and John together! I don't--"
I cut him off again.
"Grady! Listen, it is okay now," I tried to calm him down.
"I'm here," He mumbled into the phone.
"What?! What do you mean?" I smile to myself, already knowing what he meant.
"I'm here to pick you up, I am paying your bail," I squealed into the phone and then immediately felt weird. Never had a sound like that ever escaped my lips!
"Wait! I have to ask you a big favor, and it is okay if you don't want to, or you can't, but I need to ask you something," I hesitated.
"Okay... go on," Grady replied.
"I met someone here. Her name is Mack and we are sorta friends, but I've never had friends before so this is kinda a big deal," Before I could go on, Grady interrupted me. There was a lot of interrupting going on.
"Aren't we friends? I guess I'll have to rethink bailing you out..." He laughed.
I laughed along with him, trying to hide the fact that I got friendzoned by Grady. Ouch.
"Well, moving on. I'm just going to say it really fast. Could you also bail out my friend Mack? I will get a job if it means paying you back!"

Awhile later me, Grady, AND MACK! All walked out of the police station. I was the happiest I'd been in awhile.
"Listen, Aria, I don't know how to repay you. There ain't a lot a folks out there who do sh** for me. So I hold a lot a gratitude towards ya," Mack turned to look at me as we made our way to Grady's car.
"Wait, I thought your name was Lacey?" Grady looked at me, confused.
"Not anymore it's not!" Mack answered for me. I just laughed.
"Anyways, Mack, I barely know you, but I think we'll be great friends someday," I smiled at her.
"Don't throw that cheesy sh** at me!" She wiped fake tears away from her eyes and laughed.
"Says you, weren't you just praising me for how awesome I am?" I shot back with a smirk.
"Yeah right," Mack snorted.
We ended up having a great time that day. Grady took us out to eat and I swore to him one day I was going to pay him back for everything he did.
Mack and I exchanged phone numbers, and we told each other we would keep in touch. I had no clue where Mack was going to go, but she always seemed like a strong person and I figured she wouldn't like me asking her if she needed help. I always felt guilty.
She told me that her phone was the last thing her mom gave her before she left, so she always had it on her. It was an old flip phone, but it held the most memories.
We parted ways and the way to end one of the best nights in my life, was going home to Steve. The guy who I knew even after Grady reassured me, would be greatly disappointed in me.
