I never thought I would be eavesdropping on the boys cabin my first day at camp. Hell, I didn't think I'd be anywhere near the male cabins.
We crouched by the side of the cabin, standing in piles of leaves and rocks. Leila giggled and Alia shhed her quietly.
Cabin 12 was almost identical to ours, excepting the number outside the door. It wasn't that far off from our cabin, which both scared and excited me.
The boys' voices drifted outside from the screen door and the two front windows.
"-didn't say anything."
"I told you, bro."
"That's Colton talking," informed Desi.
"What the hell was I supposed to do?"
"And that's Declan," said Alia, stonily.
Suddenly, a familiar voice chimed in.
"There's a new chick in 1."
"That's Jake," whispered Leila.
"She hot?" Colton asked.
"Smokin'."
I rolled my eyes. Apparently, he was neglecting to mention that I was also the same girl who nailed Rowen in the cheek with a football.
Leila frowned, and I saw her glance at me out of the corner of her eye. Did she think I was a threat?
"She doesn't have anything on Leila though. That girl's a sex animal."
Leila smirked, and winked at us.
I bit to lip to keep from laughing.
"You gonna do her tonight?"
"Hell yes!"
Leila fist pumped the air with a grin.
"What's her name?" A deep voice asked.
"That's Rowen!" chimed in Mia.
"Leila?" asked Jake confusedly.
"No, the new chick."
"Uh...Alexandra? Alexis? No, Alexa!"
While Jake was saying this, Leila was imitating his guessing, making confused and overly exaggerated faces.
I burst out laughing, and then froze.
"What was that?"
"It came from outside the cabin."
"Go! Go!" Whisper-yelled Mia.
We all made a dash for the trees. We laughed as we ran, throwing ourselves around bends and finally arriving on our porch. Catapulting ourselves inside, we each collapsed on our bed, gasping for air.
Leila sat up, and her eyes bugged.
"Here come Jake and Colton! Act natural!"
Suddenly, everyone was scrambling around the cabin, grabbing magazines and objects and flinging themselves left and right.
The door opened, and Jake and a brunette guy with brown eyes walked in, who I guess was Colton.
They surveyed us, lying on our beds. Leila sat reading a magazine, glancing up before turning the page. Lace, Desi, and Mia were gathered around a card game, sprawled across the cots. Alia and I sat with phones in our hands and earbuds in our ears.
"Can we help you?" asked Mia, cocking an eyebrow.
Jake's eye narrowed and stared at us, looking for a slip up.
