knock knock
I heard a knocking on the door and stood up from my seat in the living room to open the door. Zachary, my chemistry partner, was standing outside. We were assigned as lab partners for 3 years now so we were pretty close.
"Hey Agnes, are your parent home?" he asked.
"Nope. Just my brother" I answered.
"Ahh, cool"
"Are you hungry?"
"Starving!" He grinned. Pfft. This guy knows I can cook so he comes over here mainly for the food.
"Fine, fine. Let's bake some brownies, then while waiting we can finish our homework"
We both went inside my kitchen after letting Zach in and closing the door. I brought out my personal recipe book and placing it in the center of the table counter so we can refer to it and work together.
"Get eggs, cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder from the cabinet. I'll grease the pan and pre-heat the oven" I instructed. Zach nodded and proceeded to take all the ingredients in one go, carrying all of them in his arms while singing to 'Despacito'
"I swear to god, yo. If you drop any of them I'll grill you in the oven" I threatened. He just laughed dismissively.
He began dismounting all the contents in his hand, starting with the eggs then plopping the others carefully. He knows some of my words are not to be overlooked.
"Alright we can start baking, put all the ingredients in the mixer" We both got the measurements to scale and take turns adding them inside the mixture one by one.
"Okay all settled. Now we just turn this knob and-" Zach, that idiot, apparently turn the knob too fast and the flour and cocoa splattered outside the mixer making a lot of mess.
"Uhh. I'll clean that later" He smiled sheepishly.
"Uh-huh. You better. Here, let me do it" Taking over the mixer before he makes more mess.
For a freak in chemistry, he sure is an amateur in creating mixtures well.
He searched through the drawers for some kitchen towel and wiped the table counter, catching all the spilled contents in his hand. Before I know it, I was covered in white and chocolate powder all over my face and shirt.
I gawked at him. "You're such an ass!" I grinned, turned the mixer off and dip two fingers in the chocolate substance and spread it on his face. I step back before he could swat my hands away and laugh at the masterpiece I created. Hahaha. The chocolate color was a contrast to this pale skin and blonde hair.
"Alright, now we're even" He pouted.
We turned back towards the brownie mixture, after it was well blended we pour it on the greased pan and place them inside the oven, setting it to bake over 30 minutes.
Looking over at him, he was licking his skin where there was chocolate on his hand. How cute.
"Let's clean up" I moved over to clear the table.
"Cleaning's the worst part" He grunted.
"Then you know how women feel" I interjected.
After cleaning, we plopped on the living room's couch and took a few minutes to cool ourselves down. It's still tiring bake anything even though I've been baking since middle school. We didn't have much homework to do, just a few questions inside the textbook. Zach invited himself over for the food, plus I get to have company and a nerd to help with my homework. Questions inside the textbook are usually harder than real test questions anyway.
In the middle of doing homework, the oven dinged indicating the brownies are done. I set the brownies on top of a wooden board on the dining table to cool off. Proceeding to finish my homework first before devouring the chocolate goodness.
Another half an hour pass by and I was done with the homework. Zach was listening to the iPod on speaker, having finished his work earlier than me.
"Ow!" a voice cried.
I stood up from my seating position on the floor and peered over the door to the dining room and saw that my brother was sticking his tongue out with a brownie on hand. Hahaha. He ate the brownies when they were still hot.
"Should've been patient bro, haha" Zach was next to me looking over what happened.
"I see that" My brother said sarcastically.
We sat down on the dining table and chew on the brownies slowly, the hot brownie was moist and melted inside our mouth. When they were full, I placed the leftovers inside a container to save it for my parents during dinner later.
It was around 6.30pm and the sun was setting, Zach turned to me smiled and gave me a hug.
"Thanks for the brownies, babe. I'll see you tomorrow" He waved and got on his car and drove away.
Sigh. If only he could call me babe in a more loving way..
