CHAPTER 10
CHAPTER 10
"How are you doing?" I asked as I entered the room. I shut the door behind me but I stayed planted there with my back against the door. Ian looked surprisingly well. He was standing by the balcony door when I came in, his arms folded across his chest and his eyes focused on something far, far away.
He turned on his heels to face me and stuffed his hands in the pockets of his dark gray sweatpants. He was wearing a black v-neck shirt that emphasized his strong arms and shoulders; it made me gulp and catch my breath a little. I felt like a 5th grader crushing on some 7th grader and I had to mentally slap myself. He smiled a half a smile and stopped right in front of me. He was so close I could smell the fresh scent of his soap and hear his steady breathing.
"I'm fine," he said. "You, on the other hand, look like shit."
I rolled my eyes and smacked his chest with my book. In one quick movement, Ian was able to remove his hands from his pockets and put them on mine, holding my hands against his chest. I was definitely caught off guard and I resorted to pushing him so that he wouldn't quite see my face display all shades of red known to man.
"And that, Ian Radke, is why you have a bad reputation," I said. I walked over to the bed and sat down. He followed suit and sat beside me.
"I do?" he asked, a big grin plastered on his face. He raised an eyebrow, almost as if he was challenging me.
"Yes." I rolled my eyes and put my book down beside me. I gathered my hair the way I would if I were to tie it in a pony tail only this time, I let it go as soon as I've gathered all of my hair and there was a shower of curls followed by a sigh.
"Really," he said. "Enlighten me.
"You honestly want me to enlighten you? Don't you know what people are saying?"
"Westfield's a small university, Miss Montgomery. I know what people are saying about me," he said sternly. "I want to know what you've heard."
Without hesitation, I went on about everything I've heard about him. I told him about the professors he's been with, or the girls he dated at the same time, or that one time someone caught them drunk and naked.. I also told him about his reputation as the university's playboy extraordinaire - immensely rich and handsome, but nothing short of an asshole.
"Is that all?" he asked. He closed and eyes and rubbed his temples .
"Oh, there's this girl Lindsey. I work with her at the café and she just...she hates your guts," I said. I couldn't help but laugh so I did, which was enough for him to open his eyes, look at me with a confused look on his face and laugh.
"What happened with her anyway?" I asked, still laughing.
"I told you, she was far too clingy for my taste. We've only been together for around two weeks, and for fun if I may add, and already she wants me to meet her entire family. I was out the door in no less than 3 seconds," he said. He looked at me and he sighed.
