CHAPTER 3
"You're tutoring Ian Radke? He's bad news, Rissey."
"Sunny, okay let's get one thing straight: we are not in high school anymore. I really need the money, you know? Any source of extra cash would be great. Second, I'm tutoring him, not dating him," I said defensively.
"Look, I just know him because a friend of mine told me about him. Apparently, he's a playboy. Girls dig that, for some weird reason," Sunny explained.
"And again, not in high school anymore!" I reminded her, bursting into laughter.
"Hey, high school or not, I'm your best friend and I'm just looking out for you. You've been with way too many jerks," she said sincerely. "All I'm saying is that he's bad news, so you better be careful. They say, he once slept with a girl behind the business building after a night class. The janitor found them the next day, butt naked and popcorn were it shouldn't be."
She was laughing so she was caught off guard when I threw a pillow at her. One of of the perks of living with my best friend was that every day was like a sleepover. She was literally just two steps away.
"Oh my goodness, Sunny! Images!" I shout.
"Okay, once, he dated three girls...and they were all from the same sorority. Cat fight of the century!" She said with an amused look on her face. Sunny never thought highly of sororities or their members. Then again, it might have something to do with the fact that she didn't get to become a Kappa and she's been bitter ever since.
"Enough! Alright, alright. He's bad news, I get it!" I said while laughing.
"I have to get some sleep or else my microbio prof is going to kill me." Sunny got up from my bed and stretched. "Good night, Rissey."
"Good night, Sun-sun," I replied. Just as she was about to close my door she turned and said," his brother, though. I'd love me some of that." She tried to pull her flirty face on, and I couldn't help but laugh. I threw my pillow at her and said, "good night!"
Just as I was about to fall asleep, my phone ran. I checked the caller ID and saw it was Noah calling. "I could not catch a break!"
"Noah Radke, what is with you and interrupting my slumber?"
He chuckled before replying, "I just wanted to tell you that Ian got an A on his test last week."
"Wow, you must be so proud, dad!" I teased. Noah and I have become friends in such a short course of time. He was just really easy to talk to and fun to be with.
"Well, my son has a lot of potential, Ms. Montgomery," he replied.
"Is that why you called? You could have just texted me, you know."
"I was going to see if you were up for some celebratory burgers? Ian and I are going to grab a bite. Our treat!"
"Sounds tempting, but I think I'll have to pass. I think I see way too much of your brother than my sanity permits.
"Hey! I heard that, Clarisse!" Ian shouted. I heard Noah laughing and saying "not cool man!" as Ian tried to grab the phone.
"Look, Clarisse," Ian said. "It's not like you have much of a choice anyway. We're in front of your house and we're not leaving without you!"
