“Tes! Tes wake up! Are you ok? Tes!” I heard a distorted voice call my name from somewhere. Everywhere was dark, pitch black. My chest felt heavy, like it had Helper robot sat on it. My eyelids felt heavy as I slowly opened them, suddenly from the dark sprang light, blinding white light all around me.
Was this death?
Or was this all a dream and I was back in the Laboratory?
My questions were answered when a familiar face came into view.
Gabby.
“Tes? Tes can you hear me? Can you hear me Tes? Blink twice if you can”
I blinked twice, where was I and what was she doing here? In fact what was I doing here? I was supposed to be dead? Was I dead? I tried to speak but instantly stopped as I felt like throwing up. Something was down my throat, something was inside of me. I panicked and tried to grasp at my neck however my limbs would not respond to me. Gabby took my hand in hers. That was the first time I had felt a human touch before; the scientists had always wore gloves when handling me.
“It’s ok Tes, you’re fine. You’re safe; it’s a breathing tube to help you to breathe ok? Everything will make sense in a bit, just close your eyes and rest for a bit ok? They’re going to sedate you again to help you to rest. I’ll be here by your side ok? I promise you’ll be ok”
I blinked twice again and succumbed to the anaesthesia, praying that she would keep to her promise.
I awoke once again, feeling nauseous and dizzy. I didn’t even have to open my eyes to know that Gabby was there, I felt her hand holding mine. Slowly I opened my eyes only to jerk forward and retch into a bucket Gabby had expertly placed in front of me.
“There you go, good girl Tes, get all of those nasty chemicals they fed you out” she soothed as she held my hair away from the bucket and rubbed by back.
Exhausted, Confused and now with a foul taste in my mouth I sat back, gasping for air. Gabby put a mask on my mouth, a mask that blew cold air into it.
“Breath it in Tes, its oxygen it’ll make you feel better” she said, sitting back down besides the bed I was laying on. She took my hand in hers again and sighed. “I guess I have some explaining to do don’t I?” she smiled.
I nodded, breathing in the Oxygen.
“You’re in a hospital Tes, not in the lab, not in your cell; you’re outside or as you say on the upside. You’re outside Tes.”
I stared at her in disbelief, me on the outside? Away from the Lab? Away from everything? Actually outside? She had got to be joking.
“it may look a tiny bit like a Lab but this is a hospital Tes, this is where they help sick people.” She said.
I lifted up the mask off of my face.
“How...How did I get here?” I croaked, my voice rough from the breathing tube and lack of liquids.
Gabby smiled.
“I brought you here silly. I work for a different government agency, we found out about the laboratory’s that test on humans. Some renegade scientists put together a secret government under the actual government’s nose, supplying them with top notch medical treatment, eg: pills and operation guides. And as this horrible world says, once you get given something, you don’t ask where it’s come from.” She shudderd. “Anyway, we found out about one of the Lab’s and its location, so me and Rav were deployed to enter and observe, then when the time was right call in back up. We lost a few men but we managed to get most of the Test Subjects out.”
