CHAPTER 4

I woke up at 7 am. Mom was there at my side, shaking me and my teddy bear. Mom announced, "Time for School!" I was partly suprised and partly happy. Mom would never do this, it was my alarm which woke me up at 7:15. But today, it was different. My mom woke me up, and she did that only on special days like my birthday, so which meant mom was in a good mood today. I was going to ask her that one question that I had in mind while going to sleep last night, but as I wrote, today was a special day; I didn't want to ruin Mom's mood.I kind of was used to mom not expressing these lovable gestures towards me, but today when she did, I was on heaven. But a part of me was also feeling awkward. However, I decided not to be this awkward person, atleast today.

"It's 7 mom. 15 minutes, Mom, please," I said while keeping the pillow on my head, to escape the bright lighting falling on my eyes. "Turn off the tube light, please," I half cried. Mom held my elbows and lifted me up. I tried to get off mom's hand, but then it occurred to me that today, mom was acting different - and better. I simply embraced myself in mom's shirt. I could smell Humble Uncle.
Mom held my head and let go of me. She stood up and said, "Get ready in time, sweetie!". "Okay mom", I replied. "Love you, mom."
"Love you too dear," she replied much to my surprise.

Later in the school, I started the conversation by saying, "I finally know what my mom does." It occured to me that I should not have said does, considering my conversation with mom the previous day, where she said "Since I have left Youtube". But what came to be was pretty schocking, here's how it went.

Me: I finally know what my mom does.
All eyes turned towards me, I felt like I was going to preach them all
Me: Infact, I probably know what all of your parents do.
Noel: Shit! I know that too. My dad told me just yesterday! Same  case, Nan?
I nodded.
Christian: How? Even the same with me. Yesterday. Evening. I didn't even initiate the talk, and he explained what it was.
Hanna and Shina stood aghasted. I figured what to do.
Me: Okay, so like everyone knows now, what they're parents do for a living, oh understatement! This lavish life?!
Everyone nodded, shockingly looking at each other.

Noel said, "Youtube?! Making videos all day, such a fun job!"
Hanna said, "Exactly! So, like I could make a video about this conversation and gain money from it? So non-hard working!" To that, Shina added, "Wonder why my mom says that working hard is the only key to success.". To that I said, "Exactly! They know the importance of no hardowork. After all, don't they just make video?!" Christian said, "All of this is okay. But, why didn't dad tell this to me earlier? What was the need to hide it?"

Chris was such a gem.

This conversation somewhere embedded in my head. I was sure that I was going to ask Mom these questions. I demanded answers after all. But today, when mom was showing extra care to me, how could I let go such an opportunity? We'll see, I thought.
